Weird 1st time mom question

Can your milk come in before you deliver.  For about the last week my boobs have been sore again (I really don't want them to get bigger but I know there isn't anything I can do about that) well early this morning when I got up to pee, I had a little bit longer of a sleep period before needing to pee so don't know if that affected it, but I woke up to damp sheets around my boob area and could clearly feel stuff just coming out of my nipples.  I've been leaking since about 20 weeks but nothing like this.  I'm actually wondering if I am going to need to put breast pads in today.

Is my colostrum just building up more?  Has my milk production begun? Should I wear breast pads today or just bring them with me and see what happens throughout the day?  TIA

Re: Weird 1st time mom question

  • I've had a LOT of milk leakage to the point of needing to use breast pads as well, but that doesn't mean any milk has come in. It'll take anywhere from 1-5 days for your milk to come in after you deliver. It's delivery of the placenta that makes milk production kick in.
