I'm so sad right now. I've got two labs, they're mother and son (12 and 8) and they're the greatest dogs. The son had a limp the other days so we take a look and his paw looks all swollen and infected. Last year he got a rose thorn stuck in the other one so we thought it was something similar.
I was not prepared at all when the vet said " Well, it's not infected :::pause::::because it's a tumor. Whaaaaaaat? So I ask if it's just a fatty tumor and he says "oh no way, that is NOT a fatty tumor". ugggg. There are no other visable tumors but the dog definitely reacted to some other areas on his lower leg/ doggie ankle area as if those spots really hurt.
So tomorrow I have to drop him off in the morning to have it removed. The vet has to cut the webbing between his toes completely out (between toes 4-5) to get the entire thing. I'll take any good doggie surgery thoughts you've all got.
Re: Doggy has a tumor :(
The hardest part for me is I'm soooo sad for the boys. The mama doggie is definitely getting to the end, her age is really showing and we don't expect her to last much more than another year or so. We also just lost my mom's dog 3 months ago (sister and aunt to my two dogs). Duke was supposed to be the dog that the boys remembered when they're older, that they have all the fun with
.
I'm also super sad thinking how his mama will take it if something happens to him
