3rd Trimester

Any moms expecting their third?!

BFP this past Monday and am slowly starting to freak as the excitement slows down. If you have two little ones...how has the last trimester been treating you while chasing around two or more kiddos?

Re: Any moms expecting their third?!

  • I have to say that I am worn out  by the end of the day.  My husband has to help me on the last minute things that I was not able to do.  My back hurts a lot more then my past pregnancies.  I am excited but nervous to see how I will be able to manage all three kids plus a house and husband...

    What are your concerns about???

  • Right here!! It's my third baby but our 4th collectively as DH has a son (16) from a previous marriage.

My son is 9 and my daughter is 1. Things work out just fine. We are dealing with Emma and teething, she doesn't want to be left alone and if she can't see you she cries. This makes for very long homework sessions when you have to lug in a baby swing to the kitchen, set baby in swing, get back to homework and baby starts dropping the bottle to get attention. It makes for a long evening.

SS helps with Emma all the time. She loves her oldest brother and that gives me time to sort homework and school lessons out with my son. Once homework is done then I take over with Emma, making dinner, laundry, chores, etc.

    We make it work.

  • 3rd tri has been fairl easy up until this point.  First tri was definitely the hardest on me because I had no energy to chase after my little monkeys.  We did a lot of snuggling on the couch and watching movies (prior to the pregnancy we weren't big TV watchers) - I did what I had to do to survive it.

Just in the last few weeks my belly has started really getting in the way - picking up toys off of the floor and getting up and down to play with the boys is starting to get impossible.  The BH contractions are also making it difficult to lift them and do things that require me to bend over, like getting their shoes on.

I've just resigned myself to the fact that I am going to be worn out for the next year or so.  I imagine being pregnant with the two of them is cake compared to dealing with a newborn and the two of them.

The good thing for me is that both of my boys still nap (and at the same time), so I have been getting chances to lie down for a few hours in the afternoon.  I used to use that time to get stuff done around the house, but lately it is almost necessary for me to rest at that time so I can function in the afternoon.

    Good luck!!

  • I am on #3... I have a 7 year old and a 4 year old.

I have found this pregnancy to be waaaay harder than the other two. Although, I didn't have any sickness this time. The aches and pains seem worse. I still have a good amount of energy but I did quit my job at the end of September.

It is tough but you can do it... the rest of us are :)

I had a rough 3rd tri when I was pregnant with our second...Just curious about energy levels and dealing with two.  Dealing with one while pregnant was pretty easy aside from the horrible pain I was in the last 13 weeks...so if Iam in that much pain again...dealing with two makes me a little nervous!  Glad to read positive things!

  • Yup here! I had the 1st trimester drags...but hanging in there! I don't worry if the house is dirty or dishes aren't done. I am keeping up good so far and I agree naps when they nap. I am not scared for when she comes...but maybe I am stupid lol

  • Congratulations!!!  I have found the third trimester to be easier (although way more uncomfortable) than the first with my two kiddos.  They are aware that baby is coming soon and that it means mommy needs more rest time...and they are good about letting me rest.  We try to do a lot of calm activities together like reading, playing board games, or watching movies.  I don't love turning them into couch potatoes right along with me, but at the same time, I'm glad we are spending the time together.

  • Crongratulations. Since I don`t have anything nice to say about my pregnancy so far, so I won`t say anything other than I have enjoyed feeling LO move. Good luck and congrats.

  • Don't freak out =)  You can do this.  I have had hyperemesis with all three pregnancies, but luckily my 3rd trimesters are just the usual aches/pains/BHs/unable-to-bend-over/slowing down in general.  I gained less weight this time, I think from chasing the other two around, and I believe that has helped me feel better all around.  I am really looking forward to being able to cuddle with the kids again...my hips/back are problematic even when I'm not pregnant, so it is extremely difficult to lay down and snuggle them right now =(  I feel like having a newborn is easier than being this pregnant (but I know a lot of moms don't feel that way).  Above all, 20 years from now it won't matter if your house was clean or if you got everything done you *think* you need to do before this baby comes - you need to take care of those kids and yourself (and your hubby =P) and let other things slide.  Good luck!
  • Honestly the whole pregnancy went by super fast.  I am just now getting really run down

  • Nothing has really been all that different for me. I'm starting to wonder how I'll manage all three in the car and buckling into carseats, but the 3rd tri with 2 LOs hasn't been any more difficult than not being pg with 2 LOs.
