I've just started getting into a workout routine and food logging again. I signed up for My Fitness Pal and am trying to take it slow to maintain my milk supply. My problem is, I'm used to eating how I needed to when I was much smaller and not BFing - I was in a more 1500 calorie range. With MFP right now I'm trying to keep a net 1500 calorie intake....so with -300 cals for nursing I need a minimum of 1800 cals. If I work out I burn 400-600 cals, which means some days I could be eating 2400 calories! This seems like a ton to someone who has always restricted, but I'm losing and my supply is holding. The only problem is I find myself getting to the end of a day and I still have a lot of cals left to consume - usually it's around 400, which is the equivelent of a 4th meal for me, basically. Any ideas of things to add in during the day to keep my calorie counts up? I do a lot of trail mix, cheese, avocado once or twice a week, peanut butter on fruit or toast, Greek yogurt....what other healthy foods are calorie dense?
Re: High calorie healthy foods?
Natural dried fruit ( I LOVE no sugar added mango!), protein shakes, Mrs. Mays nut clusters, Larabar's, Oatmeal, hard boiled eggs...
Hope this helps. I wish I had your problem, I eat way to damn much!
PB or almond butter added to protein shakes can help
Avocado would be a great one
Snacking on nuts
