I have an appt with the Dr. on Friday for PPD and I'm breastfeeding, and I DO NOT want to quit until DS is ready. what meds are best? I dont want to hurt DS but I dont want to hurt myself either.

They will likely recommend Zoloft if you are breastfeeding. I tried it, but ended up on Lexapro. It worked better for me. Either is fine according to my OB and DS's pediatrician. I successful breastfed him for 14 months and was on meds for most of it. He had no side effects. He was very small (about 4 1/2 lbs) when I started the meds and it still was not an issue. There is no reason to stop nursing. You won't hurt your baby and you are absolutely doing the right thing taking care of yourself as well! Good luck with your appointment!

I agree with PP they will rec Zoloft which didnt work for me but I ended up on Celexa which is amazing and you can breastfeed on. There are a lot of options. Most of the meds they will say the side effects of dont out way the benefits of BFing. Good luck
