Pre-Natal Yoga

Is anyone doing it? I am thinking about starting classes this week, wanted to know your take on it!

  • can't help you with the class thing...i'm more of a work out at home type person, so i rented a video from the library. it was crunch mama, and it was pretty decent. i'm probably going to order it because there were like, 20 people waiting to check it out after me.

  • I love yoga in general (I've been taking the class I'm in for a couple years). I do have a video and a podcast I do on my own... except I never get around to doing them on my own. I go to my hour-long class once a week and just feel great when I'm done. I've just been adapting the general class to my pregnancy, but I think it would be fun to be in a room of bellies.

Some people find yoga boring. I think those people probably need it the most! It is challenging to slow down and focus on one thing - just moving and breathing - without getting distracted.

I hope you like your class. It's so good to stretch.

  • I'm starting on Sunday!

  • The local yoga place in the city I'm moving to  in a few weeks has a 6 week session that is limited to 15-20 women. I totally plan on utilizing this opportunity.
  • My hospital offers one. once a week. I start in 2 weeks. I'm excited!
  • I am currently in one because I thought it would help with different poses for pregnant bodies but I find it too easy.  I much prefer my regular yoga class and just adapting the poses.  And my instructor in our class is very 'lets talk about our pregnancies' and I would rather just do yoga.  But that's just me.
  • I am getting ready to start it at home, they have it on instant netflix! :)

  • I started my class 3 weeks ago and I love love love it. I cannot say enough how much it helps me relax and stretch out mu muscles.  It's only a 45 min class and I wish it was longer.  I look forward to it all week.

Mine runs for 8 weeks, ending at the end of Feb.  I am going to take the March-April one right after too. I am so glad I decided to try it!

If you have Netflix, this is one of the "watch instantly" choices so you don't have to buy it. I've been doing it at least once a week since Christmas and I enjoy it. Its not the most challenging Yoga I've ever done but I enjoy the stretching and I think it helps me sleep better.

  • I took classes before getting pregnant, stopped during my first tri because I was way too exhausted.  I just started a prenatal class on Saturdays and love it! It's with the same instructor I went to for regular yoga so I knew what I was getting in to, but every instructor is different.

I don't talk to the other girls in the class much.  I use that hour to completely decompress from the week.

It's amazing how stretching for one hour a week makes your body feel so much better!  It's also nice to be able to take what you learn in the class and practice for 10 or 15 minutes a day.

You can get more out of it if you practice your kegal exercises during class.  I try to remember to do them on my exhales.

  • I've been doing the skyyogastudio.com videos on youtube.  Once a week is not often enough for me plus I'd have to drive to the next city over AND pay someone to babysit my little dude.

  • I started a weekly class last night and really enjoyed it! It was nice to stretch out, be around other pregnant people and learn some interesting breathing/stretching techniques. I am excited to go back next week!
