So this isn't my first time doing this, but for some reason I am having a hard time deciding (I blaming pregnancy brain & sick kiddos at home) how many newborn diapers I need!! Please let me know how many you have!!
In the beginning, newborns go through about 10-12 diapers each day. I would get a couple of different brands so you can see which ones you like best (Pampers Swaddlers are great). I plan on starting out with 75 - 100. That way I can go a week or so without having to send someone out to get more.
I bought 2 boxes, but probably will need more. I just wasnt sure since size 1 starts at 8 pounds (I think) I figured he may not be in NB diapers that long. Maybe I should go get 2 more boxes.
I think I'm going to get just 1 more package of them and we'll go from there!! I know he will more than likely (unless he comes in the next 2 weeks) be over 8 lbs!! Thanks for the help, I don't know why it was such a hard thing for me to decide on!
Dont go buying anymore! Some babies skip the NB diapers and go right into size ones.
Also, the weight charts on diaper packs are never right! You just go by what fits at the time. whe i had dd, they sent us home with a pack of NB diapers and we went right to the size 1... and she was 6lbs 12 oz.
I have two small packages of NB diapers that were given to me at the shower. I won't be buying anymore. And honestly, as long as you baby isn't a preemie (ds was 5lbs 5 oz and needed them) you technically could skip the NB size all together. the only thing that is nice about the NB is the cut out for the umbelical cord.

I have about a box of newborn diapers and then I bought a newborn size 1 which starts at 8lbs. BJ's just sent out coupons so I'll be picking up another of the size 1. I'm pretty sure my baby will be close to 8lbs if not over it.
I have 3 packages (44 ea) of newborn diapers and 2 boxes of size 1's. I'm hoping this is enough to start with. If not i'll just run to Target or send DH. I'm sure I'll get some from the hospital too, I'm not worried. I have TONS of wipes though.
Guess I'm one of the few who will be cding. I have 36 prefolds in newborn size and six proraps newborn covers. I havs some OS pockets when he's ready to fit those and a couple fitteds too. Anyone else cding?

We are CDing too. I do have one package of Earth's Best NB diapers for trips to the doctor, but otherwise we are using BG XSs and fitteds with covers. I hope it works out!

I have 2 boxes of the Huggies NB (84ct). So 168 nb diapers. I wanted at least 2 weeks worth because I wanted the ones that specifically have the umbilical cord cut out. Since it takes an average of two weeks for it to fall off I figured two boxes would work at first. We dont expect LO to be a big baby (just average) so i doubt they will go to waste. Then I already have size 1's & 2's of the pampers swaddler.
I was given about 135 or so (which is about 4 packages) NB and then I have a big jumbo box(240) of size 1. If he grows out of NB quick I'll just return for a size up. I also have 5 packs of wipes. Plus whatever NB we have left over that the hospital supplies while we are there. I have Pampers brand (sensitive and swaddlers) and one pack of Luvs.

Got the same ones too, and the same amount But we also have a jumbo box of 7th generation NB's- but their NB size goes up to 10 pounds so they are kinda like size NB/1. Then we have about 2 months worth of size 1 (8-15 pounds). My husbands mom has a friend who is a nurse and ordered us a box of 480 size 1's and 180 size 2's from her hospital for really cheap I guess. We already had a month supply of size 1s so we may end up giving some to a friend if he grows fast! But the dr is predicting him to be a small baby at birth, 6.5-7.5 pounds so we shall see!
I never got newborn diapers and didn't with this LO either. Both my boys were over 8 lbs and they say this one is too. They both went home in size 1. So if you already got some, I say don't get anymore. You can always get more later if you need them. And I always loved Pampers!

Hey ladies! Although we started off in Preemie size diapers, I counted the diapers on my chart for a week. We average about 50 diapers a kid a week. We probably went through a little more when they first born due to beginners mistakes. I would plan for 60 diapers a week, just to be sure. Not sure if that is some help for any of you. I also signed up for amazon mom and if you looking in the parenting magazines you can get a coupon. I am now getting diapers/wipes delivered right to the house. I find that the diapers/wipes are the same price on amazon as they are when I go to the store and use coupons.
