Hooray! My twin was set to have an induction this morning but went into spontaneous labor last night at midnight!! When she got to the hospital nearly an hour later (hadn't packed her labor bag yet, doof!) she was 7cm and BEGGING for an epidural. Her husband called me then to let me know she'd gone into labor on her own, and they were admitted then. I could hear her moaning and struggling with the contractions in the background, and I told him he needed to tell her to relax, and then touch the points on her body where he saw stress- her fists, to relax them, her feet, to relax them, her shoulders, etc, but they didn't seem to be too interested in what I was saying. Oh well, not my birth.
Anyway, she got her epi and that slowed things down as they always do, and she gave birth to Lucian Wolfe at 9:30 this morning! 20 min of pushing, 8lbs 1oz and 18inches long with a FULL head of hair!! I was absolutely shocked to hear that, because my first baby was a boy also, born at 8lbs even, 19 in long, and I only pushed for 20 min with him as well- and he had a full head of hair as well. Her delivery this morning sounded EXACTLY like my first delivery too, and gave me goosebumps.
He called me an hour after she delivered and she was sitting up in bed, nursing Lucian in on arm and eating scrambled eggs with the other! She's doing marvelously!
I'm so excited for her and yet so bummed I can't be there.
SUCKS living across the country from your family!!

Congrats on your new nephew.
I hear ya about living across country from family.
Congrats! That is crazy exciting (and crazy coincidences!).
I hear you about family being far away from you...ours are all halfway across the nation, so most likely it'll just be us in the hospital.
