CD26 b/w to confirm ovulation?

My OB/GYN has suggested clomid as a way to "make sure" that I am ovulating and said they would check my progesterone at CD26 to confirm ovulation.  I don't have any reason to think I'm not ovulating on my own (and charting confirms a temp shift), so asked her if they could confirm whether I'm actually ovulating on my own first before starting clomid.  She said they would just check my progesterone at CD26 the same way that they would do if I was on clomid.  I've heard of doing b/w 7dpo (which I've never had done), but had never heard of doing b/w on CD26 to confirm ovulation on an unmedicated cycle.  Has anybody else had experience with this?  Since I o'ed on CD12, doing b/w on CD26 would be well beyond 7dpo.

  • I also think it is too late.  Ob/gyns aren't experts on getting pregnant -- just taking care of already pg women and birth, I think you should see an RE.  You can only take clomid so long -- before it increases the chance of ovarian cancer.  Therefore, I think you should make the clomid cycles count and take them in a u/s monitored cycle with an RE who knows what he is doing.

Baby N conceived after 1 miscarriage and more than 2 years of TTC. Diagnosis was low sperm count. We found success after 3 months of anastrozole to increase DH's testosterone and one IUI.

  • I agree that CD26 seems really late (and likely already the tail end of your cycle) if you are Oing on CD12. I have heard of people getting prog checked post-ovulation on a natural cycle, but you are correct that it is generally ~7 dpo. Did you mention to your ob/gyn when you ovulate? I also agree with the recommendation to see a RE. Good luck!
