Well this week I just lost my 4th baby by miscarriage. I have never made if past 8 weeks. I am going to see an RE tomorrow with my husband and am very, very nervous. Has anyone been in my situation where they have lost more than 3 and their OB did a lot of blood work on them and didn't find anything so they are sending you to an RE.....I feel like my OB was kind of giving up on me but I guess there is only so much she can do. I am hoping this RE can figure out why I keep miscarrying. I need some encouragement PLEASE!!
Re: 4th Loss and getting very depressed and worried :(
I'm so sorry for all your losses.
I'm not in the same situation but maybe your OB can't do anymore for you. Maybe you should see a fertility specialist. Can she refer you to one?

I'm so sorry for your losses.
I've only had two, however I think you will get much needed answers from an RE. That's our next step as well.
Try and hang in there. It's hard, but we're here for support.

I'm so sorry for your losses. I had RPL testing done after my 3rd loss and the doc found I had a blood clotting disorder. So you have had bloodwork done? I think your doc referring you to an RE would be a good thing. Maybe the RE can pin point what the issue might be.

I was going to tell you this as well. My cousin had 3 losses before her first DD and they diagnosed her with a blood clooting disorder. She had to take baby aspirin during her pregnancy and everything was fine. She then went on to have 2 more miscarriages after her DD and didn't take the baby aspirin for some reason but did with the following pregnancy and she now has a DS. Good Luck finding out answers. I am so sorry for your losses.

TICKER WARNING TICKER WARNING
I'm sorry you are going through this.
My OB sent me to an RE after our fourth loss. We did the standard RPL panel, karyotypes on DH and I (two of our losses were genetic in nature), an HSN to determine if there were any physical issues going on.
From all that, we found I am Homozygous MTHFR, which is a clotting condition that has the sucky side effect of preventing your body from absorbing FA.
I was put on baby aspirin, Folgard (a broken down FA, B-6 and B-12 vitamin) and 4 mg FA daily. Lovenox injections once I ovulated, to prevent any clots. I was also told to eliminate all caffeine from my diet, including decaf coffee and tea. Chocolate was allowed in moderation (thank God.)
I had another chemical pregnancy, so they weny back and ran CD 3 baseline blood work to figure out what my hormone levels were. She found I was ovulating early, due to elevated estrogen levels, and that likely the eggs were big enough to be fertilized, but likely of inferior genetic quality.
My RE put me on Gonal-F to supress ovulation, monitored the follicles until they were the proper size, had me trigger around CD 13. We just went with timed intercourse, as we have no issues actually GETTING pregnant, and then I started my Lovenox injections and Progesterone.
We are just now entering our third trimester with a healthy little girl.
All that to say, RE's can be miracle workers. Mine was determined to figure out what was going on, and left no stone unturned. I owe her more than I can ever repay. I really hope yours is the same kind of doctor. If, at any point, you feel they are not being agressive enough or looking hard enough, you feel free to find another RE that will. They need to be on your side, and be aggressive in finding the solution.
Good luck to you and please feel free to PM me if I can clarify anything or if you have any questions about the tests we ran.
I'm so sorry for your losses. {{HUGS}}
My encouraging words are this: RE's are experts, right? They see so many patients and situations, there's a pretty good chance they can figure out what is going on, right? And it is amazing what doctors can do these days. I wish you the best of luck, and I hope you can find answers and hope soon.
I've only had one loss, which has been so horrible, so I am really sorry for all of your losses. I was having dinner with a pg friend tonight (has one child, one loss) and she was telling me about a friend who has had several losses - without much explanation. The part to focus on here, though, is that she is four weeks from her due date this time. It's great news! I hope that your next time is your take home baby. Thoughts & prayers to you.

I'm sorry for your loss - and delighted to see that Ambrandau made her way here. I will tell you that there are ladies on Pregnant after a Loss AND Parenting after a Loss who have had success after several miscarriages. Many of them have different stories and solutions.
My story's a bit different. I had 2 utterly uneventful pregnancies which resulted in happy and healthy babies. In March of 2009 I had my first loss - and then had 3 more losses over the course of the next 11 months. Each loss was a little different - a blighted ovum, early fetal demise (before 8 weeks), a chemical, and a fetus that was behind with a heartbeat (slow and unmeasurable) and 3 days later there was no heartbeat. My doctor ran a repeat pregnancy loss panel after the third loss and discovered heterozygous MTHFR for which I was put on Folgard (For my third and fourth losses I was enrolled in a study on baby aspirin and taking it daily).
(success story to follow, feel free to skip)
In March of 2010 I became pregnant again - after a 2 week course of broad spectrum antibiotics and steroids. I was taking Folgard and high doses of fish oil. I felt hopeless from the start - I was actually in the process of starting to see an RE when we got pregnant. My OB hadn't given up on me, but he did say he felt we would eventually have a child but to be prepared for more losses, none of which he could really explain, though he thought an RE might be a good idea. Why that pregnancy was successful over the others is arguable at best - it might've been sheer luck. It might've been some low grade infection (some doctors think that strep B infection can be linked to repeat pregnancy loss). It might've been natural killer cells or some sort of immune overreaction inspired by the blighted ovum (many women who TTC and suffer several miscarriages over a year show high levels of NKC levels, either because of TTC or miscarriages OR causing the miscarriages, the science isn't really clear yet). The steroids would've stepped back the immune system, arguably enough to allow a pregnancy to continue. Again, it's impossible to say.
Anyhow, I wanted to tell that story (and see Ambrandau's - and perhaps the others with 4+ losses will chime in) so that there is some hope. . .

I am so sorry for your losses (((hugs))). I have had 3 - one was due to a chromosomal issue, the other 2 were c/p's of unknown reasons. I was already seeing an RE and she ordered the RPL panel after the 3rd loss this fall. They did find that I too have a clotting disorder (factor v leiden) and after going to a hemotologist they found I have another clotting issue as well. I am on a low dose of asprin and undergoing IVF (issues getting pregnant - age and MF issues).
Once I start the stims for IVF I will also start lovenox injections. They can't say my clotting issues caused the losses, but they can't say they didn't either. So they are treating me as though that is a factor. Hopefully I will have success. A good RE should be able to hopefully help you and maybe even do more testing to see what possible issues could be. Best of luck.
I'm so sorry for your loss(es). I would be curious to what they tell you. I have miscarried 3 times in the last year. The last 2 were around 8 weeks. I can't seem to get passed that point. I'm 43 so I know that doesn't help.
I hope you find answers. Meanwhile, keep the chin and keep trying ( we plan on it).
Keep us posted.

I have lost 4 babies to miscarriage never having made it past 9.5 weeks. All of my bloodwork results had shown everything to be perfectly normal with me. It wasn't until we did karyotyping on each of us that my husband was found to have a chromosomal translocation. Although we could still have a perfectly healthy baby the old-fashioned way, I can't imagine going through more miscarriages waiting for that to happen. We're looking into IVF w/ PGD now, although there aren't any guarantees this way either.
All in all, it's good to now have a cause for our misfortune, but nothing takes the pain away.
Best of luck to you!

I'm so sorry for your losses. It's so heartbreaking to be able to get pregnant but not stay pregnant. I don't have personal experience with an RE but as others have mentioned, seeing an RE is probably the best next step and hopefully will get you closer to answers and a take-home baby.

I'm so sorry for your losses. I've only had 2 since we started TTC (I had one a year prior) so my doc wants me to wait and see how the next one goes, which seems masochistic to me. Good luck at your RE appt.

I'm kinda in the same boat. 4 losses and normal blood work panel. I'm actually thinking about going to see an RE in the hopes that SOMETHING can be done.
I don't look at it as the OB giving up...I'm hoping the RE has more options available to help me have a healthy baby.
Good luck to you...hopefully the RE can give you some better answers and help you start your family.
