? About pumping & bottles

I know i'm a lurker but I was wondering if anyone can help.

I want to start pumping a bit so that my husband can help out but we have Avent bottles and I really don't want the electric Avent pump.

Is there anyway i'd be able to buy a different brand pump and use the bottles we have?

TIA =)

Re: ? About pumping & bottles

  • pour the milk from the pump bottle into the milk storage bags (i use lansinoh) then defrost in bag in warm water and pour into whatever bottles you do want to use :o)

  • Can't you just buy storage tubes to put the milk in and then transfer it to the bottles?  Or attach plastic storage bags to your pump and then transfer those when you want to use it?

    I just looked, and it actually looks like there is a standard size for the bottle/pump.  You may very well be able to get away with what you have.

  • most pumps come with a storage bottle and extra pump-compatible bottles are pretty cheap so I'd just pump into those and transfer to the avent.

  • I pump into the Medela storage bags and freeze them.  When they're thawed, I pour the milk into whatever bottle I want.  :)
  • Thanks for the advice! I forgot the bags existed!

    This.  I have a Medela PISA.  I pump into the Medela bottles that came with the pump, then transfer the milk to Avent bottles.

  • Avent also makes a converter to use with any pump- I've seen them at Target! I use Avent bottles and an Ameda pump, but I just pump into the bottles it cane with, then dump into bags and freeze!
