reading Lauren's link below about dealing with temper tantrums, I was thinking
Jake's teacher has really taught me alot on dealing with Jake's less than desirable behavior using a lot of the techniques listed in that article. I can't believe how ill equipted I am from my own upbringing to know how to deal with things sometimes! I've been thinking lately for all the stuff I learned in school, it would have been great to have had a class on child development. (rather than say those 4 semesters of calculus which I never use)
In any case, I do ask the teachers all the time "how do you recommend handling this...?" or "what language do you find effective to communicate this concept?" I have gotten some great pointers and I am more consistent with what he learns in school. It's a great resource to take advantage of when you need some ideas too!
Re: one thing I will say about daycare
I agree!
We've adopted our day care's time out technique, which isn't groundbreaking but it works.
