February 2011 Moms

Cookie dough, anyone? I have extra spoons.

Yes, raw cookie dough is not supposed to be eaten. But I'm going to anyway. So if anyone wants some, I gots extra spoons.

ps I haven't eaten too much, and I'm okay with eating a little more. It just feels good.

What have you eaten lately that's supposed to be a no-no? Feta cheese?

  • Yes please! Especially if it's chocolate chip...

I've eaten lunch meat the whole time, and my "no caffeine, no soda" rules kinda flew out the window in the past few weeks. I even had a few sips of a friends quadruple-shot Starbucks the other day... oops.

  • cookie dough, lunch meat, feta cheese, a cup of coffee, yeah, I've done most of it.... granted, not all in one day or a lot at a time, but I've certainly indulged a few times the longer this pregnancy has gone on healthy

I had 3 sips of my DH's Monster energy drink yesterday. OMG when he opens it in the car, the smell of it attracts me like a fly on a carcass!! It smells like skittles and sprite and cherry soda (the old fashioned stuff made by soda jerks) and I DROOL. DH lets me have a few sips and I LOVE it. The only time I want Monster is when I'm pg, when I'm not I could care less about it!

Mine too. I had some caffeine free diet coke the past few weeks. I also had a few decaf caramel brulee lattes from Starbucks.

  • I've definitely been less and less cautious with my caffeine. Not in excess (still not having it every day) but definitely more than previously.

Haha! For me it's the blue Mountain Dew. I never liked Mountain Dew before... but that stuff is HEAVEN, tastes like melted blue raspberry icees.

  • That's it! Tiffany you have inspired me...I'm off to the kitchen to whip up some cookie dough!  AND, I'll probably chase it with some hot chocolate later tonight considering sweets are the only thing I'm interested in while PG.

  • I will definitely take some. I've probably had it a few times throughout this pregnancy - it's SO GOOD. I eat a bunch of no-no's. I've had sushi (it was cooked so I guess that's okay), feta cheese, seafood (all cooked but still), caffeine....cold lunch meat. You name it, I've had it. All in moderation of course, but believe me, it's not hurting anyone!

  • mmm cookie dough.  I had a turkey sandwich recently that was not heated up (actually had it a few times), and I had a hot dog, oh and at christmas I licked the spoon after I put the cake batter in the oven.

  • I've had a small glass of Coke Zero every day this week. I just NEEDED it. I've been pretty good about not having any "no-no's" but I really want an Italian sub, I might have to have it Friday.

Cookie Dough sounds delicious though. I've made the no pudge brownie batter       ( made with apple sauce only)  and eaten that, it was heaven!

  • Caffeine. I didn't drink pop prior to PG but it is the one thing I have craved throughout this entire PG and the pop that I crave has caffeine in it too. Whoops.

  • I ate four cheeseburgers from White Castle today, and while that's not on the pregnancy no-no list, I'm pretty sure that is about as unhealthy as I can get, bordering likely worse for me than most of the stuff on the no-no list.  Even the sound of it now kinda grosses me out, but at the time it was amazing.  :)

  • Lunch meat.  Once I got diagnosed with GD, I started eating turkey breast almost daily.

  • Tiffany I wish i could share i am missing so many sweets being GD. I'm going to have to be very careful not to put on baby weight after i actually deliver...So far I haven't gained much since being sick in my first trimester and my GD diet. but i already have a list going of all the sweet/carbs I want right after delivery

  • I had sushi not that long ago, but as the no-no list has been modified, only certain fishes are to be avoided (I still ate a spicy tuna roll and yellowtail).  I'd love some cookie dough, but doesn't the sugar chemically cook the eggs much like in cold egg nog?

  • OOOOHhh.  I loooove cookie dough and I made cookies from scratch the other day and I didn't eat it.  It was one of the hardest things ever.

  • Had some cookie dough today actually....sooooo good!
  • Um, yeah, I've eaten cookie dough and brownie batter more than a few times.  I started off being good about the lunch meat thing, but I've gotten sloppier and sloppier.  Glad I'm not the only one.

  • DH won't let me have anything he feels could be potentially lethal to our baby or myself. I would absolutely love to sneak some cookie dough (and sneaking makes it taste even better!) I shouldn't be having any McDonald's either and ever since meeting DH, I haven't had it for at least a year.. but sometimes I think about the familiar fatty cheeseburgers I used to tank back in the day, and I am dying for just ONE! I somehow managed to convince him to get me a bacon, egg & cheese bagel from their morning menu, and now I feel absolutely guilty.... even if it felt so right. :]

  • I just had medium rare pork tenderloin.  It was worth every pink bite!

  • My doctor said caffeine and lunchmeat were fine. And feta is fine too as long as it is pasteurized. So I guess I have had some no-no's but I don't feel guilty about it because they weren't no no's for me. I do miss wine and sushi though!! A lot.
  • I love everybody's "confessions." :)

After my contractions scare at week 30 (when the hospital completely overreacted to normal and painless Braxton-Hicks), I was talking to my best friend's mom on the phone (she's a doctor and has done tons of ob-gyn stuff, including hundreds of home deliveries) and she told me I needed to pour myself a half-glass of wine to de-stress. Ah, it was lovely. Since then, I've had two other half-glasses of wine. In general, I don't want to drink it simply because I think water, juice, milk, green tea, etc. all have more nutrients for the baby, but I don't think a half-glass once in a while does any harm (especially at this stage).

  • I've had shellfish in moderation, feta cheese, red bulls, soda pretty much every day. two things i go crazy for are subway sanwiches at least twice a month and chinese food (i try to curb the chinese food craving cus my legs get really swollen afterward).

Last night dd and i baked 2 dozen cupcakes and she and i were both not shy about licking the batter off the mixer. lol
