I know the general school of thought on TTC is to not plan your life around it. ie. Don't not take a trip because you might be pregnant. And I agree with that. However, now that we're going to start IF treatments I'm wondering how you ladies handle it when it comes to planning a trip or being out of town. Frankly I am feeling old, broke and worn out, so I don't really want to go anywhere but I know we might have some family trips coming up and I'm already worried they'll get in the way of a cycle.

Re: Timing and planning trips around IF treatments
I'm dealing with this right now. My brother just had a baby and I've offered to come help them out (he's in school, they have a 3 year old, SIL had a c-section). But the week they would need help is the week that we'd need to do our IUI if this cycle doesn't work. Maybe. The hard part is not even knowing which days we would need to be in town, since it is all dependent on when CD1 is. right now I'm thinking we will drive (it is a 9 hour drive, but then i'd have a car out there--they live in rural Montana so having a car is crucial) which gives us flexibility to decide at the last minute when to go. I realize missing one month of treatment isn't the end of the world, but after trying for so long and feeling older and older every month, i just don't want to miss a chance. I've stopped putting the rest of my life on hold for IF, but having just started treatments, I'm not quite ready to take a break from those yet.
I'm certainly not thinking about what if we are pregnant travel plans. We already have several trips planned for summer and DH's brother is getting married in the fall. We'll just cancel if we have to. I'm willing to give up ANY travel plans (family weddings even!) if I am pregnant. They'll get over it.

April IVF Spring Chicks
That is exactly how I feel. And I haven't even gone to the RE yet! Ugh! Hope your timing works out.... actually I hope you dont even need to have that be an issue b/c you'd already be KU'd!
When you are doing treatments, it can be a bit more tricky. There are times you must be in town for monitoring or procedures, so you do have to plan some trips around IF treatments or you need to plan IF treatments around trips. I skipped directly to IVF due to my Dx. But, even if I were doing injects + TI or IUI, my RE wouldn't let you cycle for months in a row without any breaks. Consequently, you would choose to travel during the months you were not cycling. That is what I have done so far. Except that I was on injects for IVF #2 over Thanksgiving. Since I didn't have monitoring appointments at that time I packed up my meds and took them with me when I went to visit family.
Good luck!
ETA - I am starting at a new RE, so I don't know if he will allow multiple cycles in a row or will also require rest cycles, but I will probably still take some rest cycles to allow my body to recover a bit.

We have the added obstacle of DH's fire house schedule and the fact that he has to choose his vacation blocks for the entire year the previous November ... so in 11/2010, he had to determine when we're taking our 2011 vacations.
We're going on three trips together and a long weekend (the same one) apart. We'll just have to plan our cycles around them, even if it means taking a rest cycle.

Lots of Luck to all of 3T/IF
I have thought a lot about this because I travel a lot for work (just returned from 2 weeks in Asia) as well as for pleasure. At this point, we're going to just continue to plan trips as normal. That means that we have two trips in March, and a week long vacation in June and another in August. Hopefully we can time treatment around these trips, but if necessary we will skip a cycle and move on.
