3rd Trimester

Ready to fight back...

Against my heartburn...seriously its getting ugly. I have dealt with this annoying pain for my entire pregnancy and here it is Firday night and I am trying to FINALLY get some rest and the SOB is coming on stronger than EVER...AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Ive done it all...

  • Not eaten past 6 pm
  • Drink Milk
  • Sleep elevated
  • Taken Tums/Pepcid
  • Avoided caffeine and chocolate

I think my baby is going to come out one harry little thing if that OWT is true. Why does pregnancy have to bring on such nasty side effects??? WHY I just want to cry when I wake up with a little acid reflux pooling at the bottom of my throught....

 OK vent over...

Re: Ready to fight back...

  • #1 Avoid milk. It can prolong heartburn in pregnancy (my doc told me this).

#2 Try pineapple. There is an enzyme in it that can rid you of heartburn. It has to be fresh (it sounds strange but google it, it works for most people and it was magical for me). I believe papaya also has a similar effect.

#3 I know it won't help at night, but mint chewing gum was a godsend for me during the day (this sounds like it would be for mild HB but this worked when downing Pepcid backed up by fistfuls of Tums didn't work).

  • My doctor told me that I can take zantac. In fact, I told her that I take it once in a while when heartburn gets bad and she told me that if I just took it twice a day I wouldn't have to deal with that pain at all, and apparently this is what she did with both her kids.

Maybe you could take zantac? It totally works for me. Tums does nothing.

  • try the zantac - it's a wonder drug and I couldn't have gotten through my pregnancy without it.  GL!
