Hip pain and no sleep

Is anyone else extremely uncomfortable at night?  My hips hurt so bad when I lay down at night. I'm fine at first but I wake up within a couple hours in absolute PAIN.  I'm using pillows (either a body pillow or a pregnancy pillow), which support my legs all the way down, so I don't know what else to do.  I've always been a side sleeper w/a pillow between my knees so it's not like this is an unusual position for me. I am at work right now and could just cry b/c I'm so exhausted from night after night of no rest Crying

Re: Hip pain and no sleep

  • I'm having the same problem. My pillow helped for a few weeks and now my hips are back to hurting. How do you feel about taking something like Tylenol PM? It might help you get a good night's rest and my OB told me I could use it every day if I have to. Your's might say something different but it might be worth a shot. Thankfully my pains haven't gotten to that bad of a point yet. Hopefully you find some relief soon!

  • I am in the same position. This is my 2nd pregnancy and it is horrible! I told my OB/GYN about it and she did an exam. She referred me to a physical therapist and a chiropractor. I am now suppose to sit on a yoga ball instead of any other chairs. Also, I now sleep in a recliner because the pain is unbearable when laying down. I am not sure how much you exercise but ever since starting physical therapy and starting to work out more I have felt sooo much better. Hope this helped!

  • i've only got one hip with pain but it sounds the same.  fine at first, and then really bad!  luckily i can roll to my other side and it eventually subsides.  or i just use some pillows to prop me up a bit.  but i wasn't sleeping well before this all started so i feel like (sadly) i'm actually getting used to only a few hours of sleep.

  • Tylenol PM is on my list of approved meds and my doc suggested Tylenol.  I think I'm going to pick up some Tylenol PM though (maybe it will help w/the pain and knock me out).  I've started prenatal yoga at my gym too, but it hasn't helped yet.  I may try sitting on my exercise ball more at home too. I walk and do yoga but can't run anymore due to asthma (I ran and worked out much harder before pg).

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one in this boat but sorry to hear that you guys are in pain too.  I hope we can all get some sleep soon!

  • I've had awful hip pain as well. I was in your position - it was so bad that I couldn't sleep. I started seeing a chiropractor about 6 weeks ago and it has helped big time! I do gentle stretching every day for about 15 minutes as well. I am sleeping way better now.
