Just curious to see how often any EBF momma's are feeding their 9 - 10 month olds and how much they are eating? Baby Bix has been eating solids a la Baby-Led-Weaning for 3 + months now and is down to 4 bfing sessions per day. And two of those sessions are getting really short. My pumping volume has dropped drastically. (I work so I pump 2-3 times per day to give him his 2 bottles during the day at daycare.) Hoping to keep going on EBF until he is one and can start on regular milk.
For those in similar situations, how much is your little one eating? How often? Are you thinking about starting to wean off another feeding?
TIA!
Re: Bfing at 9 - 10 months
nurses about 6 times per day (no bottles).
DS is slow on the wanting to chew so for solids in a day he has: 3/4 c cereal, 3/4 c BM (mixed with the cereal), 1/2 jar meat working up to a full jar, 1 jar veggie, 1 jar fruit and a few puffs trying to get him to chew and not chow til he pukes.
I dont want to drop a feeding unless he wants to, b/c he is low on the weight %, and loses 5-10% at every doc visit. So its something we are watching closely.
DD still nurses about 5x a day. I don't get very much when I pump, so not sure exactly the amount she eats at each feeding. She also gets 3 solid meals and sometimes a snack. She likes to eat, so I'm not stopping her.
I guess whenever she decides to, and if she doesn't then whenever I decide to.
DD gets 2 bottles of formula 2 days/week, so I am not 100% EBF anymore, but the other 5 days/week, she nurses. On those days, she nurses about 5x/day - when she wakes up, mid-morning, lunch, afternoon, right before bed. I feed her two meals of solids/day, and she's eating about 8 oz. of puree, plus cereal, rice cakes, yogurt, puffs, cheese, and graham crackers. She's only 17 lbs at 9 months, and she is crawling and pulling up like crazy, so I'm trying to keep her calories up! I pump once/day the 2 days I'm at work, and I'm only getting about 3.5- 4 oz. I'm never really engorged anymore, even in the morning after she's gone 12 hours.
My goal is to make it until 10 months pumping at work. At 10 months, I plan to go to 2 times/day - before bed and first thing in the morning. My goal is to stay on that path as long as she wants to (up until about 18 months). If I make it to 12 months, I'll be thrilled. My original goal was 3 months, and then 6.
