IVF research & DH

Hi ladies!

For those of you who have or are undergoing the IVF process, do you have any resources to share? Im looking for some good web sites or books. Im also wondering how your DHs dealt with all of this. Mine says we will do what we have to do, but i honestly do not know if he is comfortable. Ive tried to explain it to him and told him to do some research if he wants (hes like that) but didnt have anything to suggest. I did schedule our "talk" with the RE in hopes that he will explain it more and DH will feel better. Id like to recommend some websites for him to peruse if anyone has any to share! Thanks so much and GL to everyone!

  • Hey Jez,

I know it feels totally overwhelming, but I promise it's really not too bad:)  I just took it day by day and this really helped me get through the process.  This blog www.ivfauthority.com was a neat blog to read also check out www.advancedfertility.com which has pics of embryos and additional info.

The clinic I go to also had a mandatory IVF class one evening which all the couples in that cycle attended and they presented a power point on the IVF process...it helped:)  Ask your IVF nurse or RE if they can provide you & DH with any info on IVF.  Good luck!

  • I would recommend the book How to Make Love to a Plastic Cup. My DH was similar to yours he was on board with the IVF, but I knew he had some reservations. The book is written buy a guy who went through 4 IVF cycles. I read some of it and it's really written for guys, it's funny, but he also does a good job explaining everything. My DH read it in a couple days and he really enjoyed it. He learned a lot and has surprised me with some of the things he now knows. Yesterday he even said "if this doesn't work I'm okay with doing it again" which when we first decided to do IVF it was a one time thing - I think the book really opened his eyes & made him realize it might take more than once.

    Good Luck!

  • I recently read The Couples Guide to In Vitro Fertilization and though it was really informative.

I've heard of the book for men and would love it if my DH would read it! That would be a challenge, though! He's just not a big reader.
