Parenting after 35

Re my cruise and leaving DS with my mom.

My mom and I are very close and I 100% trust her to watch Thomas. She already watches him during the day. Unfortunately T doesn't STTN, however, my mom knows what to do because she stays with us when DH travels. We were going to take him with us but she thought we would enjoy it more w/o him. Yes, I will miss him terribly but he's in good hands.

  • How long is your cruise? Where are you going? You are lucky but I bet you will miss him quickly.

  • That's great that your mom is so good with Thomas.  I wouldn't trust my mom for a trip to the grocery store!

  • 7 days southern Caribbean but we have not booked it yet.

  • I'm actually kind of jealous. DH has been away from M a few times but I have spent every. single. night with him. I wouldn't trade it, but DH and I are kind of hoping to go to SF in a few months and would like to leave him with my mom... and I am terrified.
  • That sounds awesome!  I am considering taking Pumpkin on a Disney cruise for our vacation this year and probably won't bring Jack with us.  I am waffling on that decision, though.

  • Then I guess you can go but do you have a back-up person? (Since you'd be gone for a relatively long time.)

Definitely. My sisters also live close by. I guess I'm feeling guilty because I'm going to miss him soooo much.

Good for you!  I am a firm believer in the time away as just a couple is important to a marriage, even if just for date nights or a quick overnight stay in town.

  • It sounds like T is in the best of hands! Have a terrific cruise. It sounds divine!
  • Enjoy your cruise! He won't remember this & he will get to spend some awesome quality time with your mom - maybe he will be sttn when you get home too!

What about doing something for just a couple of days instead of 7?
