what does green poop mean for a newborn?

i've heard people refer to it as a sign that the baby can't tolerate something in your breastmilk, but he has it pretty frequently (maybe 10-20% of the time) and it doesn't seem to be correlated with him feeling bad at all. does anyone know what this means or have any experience with it?

Poop that is green and mucous-y (stringy looking) can point to a dairy allergy. However, I've read that it's normal for infant poop to be all sorts of colors, as long as there is no mucous or blood in it. My DD had a dairy intolerance that seems to now be resolved (yay yay yay!!!), and the first sign was green poop. However, it was stringy as well, and that later progressed to streaks of blood before I cut out dairy.

Our pedi said poop can be any color but Red, white or Blue, and mucous is bad as well!

In a BF baby, it can mean too much foremilk/not enough hindmilk.

We have dark green poop all the time. Pedi said it was normal!

It's not anything to worry about if it happens now and then. It is normal because sometimes they just drink long enough to get the foremilk if they are thirsty and not wanting a full meal. If it is green all the time, that means they are getting too much foremilk and not enough hindmilk on a regular basis.

My twins poop has been dark green since they were born. There aren't any issues that I am aware of - they seem to be eating and feeling fine so far.
