Reassurance for a friend: brown spotting

I know several of you have had spotting and/or cramping while prego and everything turned out fine. Can you post a quick note here so i can pass it along?

I really appreciate it!

Re: Reassurance for a friend: brown spotting

  • I had brown, pink, and even red spotting at 6 weeks, 8 weeks, 10 weeks, 12 weeks, and 19 weeks. Mine ended up being from placenta previa but it is super scary. Hoping everything is ok with your friend.

  • Did she go through IVF?  If so, brown spotting is very common because you've been poked and scabbed up internally so much as part of the process, that the old scabby blood works its way out.

  • No. Lucky surprise BFP!
  • Hi! I'm Kelley the friend Lesile was talking about. No I didn't have IVF but it was a big surprise. We were planning on seeing the doctor for one last visit before seeing a fertility specialist, but that appt came a week early because of a postive pregnancy test. We had been trying for a year without any luck. I have PCOS, High blood pressure and diabetes and my husband had 0% normal morphology sperm. The doctor didn't think it was possible. But it happened and now I am a nervous wreck.  The spotting turned red and the cramping got worse so I called the doctor this afternoon and went to have a ultrasound.  The baby looked great!!  The heartbeat was strong and he/she grew 1 week in gestation age in 3 days. They did find a fibroid in my uterus and the doctor said I had an implantion clot on the ultrasound a few days ago.  Either one of those could have been causing the bleeding. So I am resting and breathing a sigh of relief.
