What do you do with DC

I get home about 5pm from work and after picking up DS from daycare. We start bed time at about 730pm or so. During that 2.5 hours we feed him and change him but we are not sure of other things to do with him. We usually let him roll around and work on sitting up. I read books to him or go out for a walk if it is not raining.

What do you do activity with DC at home inside?

  • That's about the same thing we do with Payton.  At Robbie's age, we (well I) used sing to her and do silly games (eesny weesny spider, row row row your boat, etc). We also used to strip her down to her diaper prior to bath time and run different blankets and stuffed animals over her so she could experience different textures, plus all babies like to be naked!   Basically anything to make her smile, laugh and learn.

  • Loading the player...
  • That sounds about like what we do too!  We also throw in a round of the jumperoo.  That usually only entertains her for about 15 minutes currently cause she is too short still.  hehe
  • We sing and dance now, but as Robbie's age, we got down on the floor and played.  Lots of singing too, such being super silly.  That was the time too, when she would play inteh exersaucer for a good hour!  It was when we could finally cook again and eat dinner  for more than 5 minutes.

We would put on Comcast on Demand and watch the nursery rhymes.  She loved for us to do karaoke to them with her.  Anything interactive!

  • I'm on a Fisher Price mailing list and they sent me a little booklet of activities and toys for different ages.  It looks like they have it online too:

  • We do pretty much the same things as the others - walks, reading, silly games. Sometimes we put him in the Exersaucer for a few minutes, but sometimes he is NOT interested. =) Last night we danced around the apartment singing songs from The Sound of Music, and that made him laugh.

  • Pretty much what you said - tummy/back time, time in her jumperoo/bumbo, just holding/cuddling her.  She likes to "stand" while we hold her under her arms.  There's not much else we're able to do with her yet, but she's getting more active every day.

  • Sounds like you are doing a great job!! Kaylin goes to bed between 6 and 7 but for the couple hours before bedtime we do about the same as you.We try and get outside if the weather cooperates. I sometimes have errands to do, like tonight, we went grocery shopping together.

She loves singing and dancing and making silly faces or noises. We spend a lot of time on the ground with her playing too. Her favorite things right now are the This is the Way the Farmer rides song and rasberries ;) We also do our solids during this time. I try to read to her every night but she usually isn't interested in the story anymore. Now we just talk about the pictures and she likes to touch all the pages.

  • at that age, just talking to them, singing, reading books... that's all enough for them.   don't feel like you need to "stimulate" them or anything... they're learning so much just by being with you...
