DS started signing to go up in the wrap last night and today for his nap and tonight... I guess he's starting to outgrow the need to nurse to sleep!
I noticed now that when I ruck with his arms in, that the "seat" isn't very big anymore (yet another sign that he's growing up!). How do you know when not to ruck with their arms in and what do you do when you want that support for their head? Did you just do a different carry or get a wider wrap? My wrap is 70 cm wide, so I don't know if there are wider wraps! Thanks!
Re: A little AW + a ruck ?
Your pic of T is precious and a good example of sleeping with an arm out! I guess I will try with his arms out and see what he does. For his nap, I didn't have the top rail tight enough and his head was leaned back.. I guess he was OK, but it didn't look comfortable, so I took him down. Luckily he stayed asleep.
Yeah, I haven't had any trouble with his bum popping out. I just wondered if you just know when you can't do arms in anymore by the way it feels when you wrap. Since I always did arms out until recently, I wasn't sure if there was a point that you just know you can't do arms in (like how much seat is enough seat to do it safetly). Sorry if this doesn't make sense!
Thanks, I forgot that I had that pic in my siggy when I was typing that. T is almost 2 and I haven't had any problems with rucking in any of our wraps. I don't think there's really a point where they can't go arms in, since they can decide which way they want to have them. But who knows T is on the smaller side so it's possible we haven't hit that point.
Here's a great thread on wrap widths though from TBW

Thanks!
Yeah, I guess I should just ruck with his arms out and let him get into a position he likes to sleep. I guess I thought the top rail would be too tight for him to get his arms into, but I probably don't get it as tight as I think! I'm just glad I have the wrap! Sometimes it works better than nursing!
even if it's real tight, T always seems to be able to squeeze his arms in to get comfy and snuggle on down. haha, yes very true it does sometimes work better than nursing. There are plenty of days when T won't take his nap, I'll throw him up on my back and he's out! Today was one of those days
, so rest assure you have lots of bw'ing days ahead of you. And btw, I love Storches
That's good to know!
Yeah, he has been having a time lately with sleeping (teething and developmental spurt (I think..since he wants to play at 3-4 am!).
I've had the storch since he was 2 mo. and it has by far been the best investment over the last 12 mo! I mainly got it because of it's 'workhorse' quality, and while I would love to try out more types of wraps/different lengths, I've not regretted getting it! I just wish I had known about FSOT sooner (I would've bought 2 used wraps, instead of one new one!).
