Bedtime routine

I am going to start our new bedtime routine tonight and hopefully get us on some sort of schedule since I go back to work tomorrow.  For those of you whose LO gets a bath as part of the bedtime routine, do they get a bath every night?  I thought we were not supposed to bathe theme very day yet, or are we? If you don't do a bath every night, how does the routine vary on those nights and does it go smoothly still?

TIA!

Re: Bedtime routine

  • DS doesn't like baths and crys the whole time so we don't do them before bed.  I do his last feeding in his room with only the lamp on, change diaper, pj's and swaddle, usually feed alittle more to calm down because he doesn't like being swaddled, read 2 books, into crib and lights out.  I try to start the feeding at 9 and I'm free to go to bed at 10.

  • DD gets baths every other night or so.  Here's our general routine:

Bath, jammies, bottle, book, swaddle, rock until drowsy, crib

For non-bath nights, just remove the bath from the list. :)

  • Good luck!! My baby does best when we follow his routine exactly the same way each night. We start when he begins getting fussy.

He gets a bath every night. I bought organic baby shampoo/wash and rub Aquaphor on his dry spots and lotion everywhere else during his massage after the bath. He goes to daycare, so we want to clean him daily.

If we miss his bath, he has a horrible night and is up every couple of hours. He also fights going to sleep. Little stinker!

  • I also bathe nightly because she LOVES the bath and it helps her sleep better. I only use shampoo and soap every second night, the other night I just use plain water and let her splash around. We do bath, pj's, bottle, rocking chair, bed.
