Babies: 3 - 6 Months

What non-traditional lullabies do you sing to LO?

I need some more songs in rotation.  Camp songs/acoustic favorites, that sort of thing.

Right now, I sing "House at Pooh Corner" and "Please Come to Boston" by Kenny Loggins, "Godspeed (Sweet Dreams)" by the Dixie Chicks and "Insomniac" by Billy Pilgrim.  I love snuggling with DS in the dark and singing to him.  DH can't sing so this is a special mommy/son time.

ETA: By non-traditional, I mean not "rockabye baby" "twinkle twinkle little star"

  • My two songs I've always sang to him (Even when he was in my belly) are "Don't Worry, Baby" by The Beach Boy and "Dream a Little Dream" by The Mama's and the Papa's.

I saw James Taylor when I was pregnant with DD. This post made me smile. Good choices.

  • Not sure if these are nontraditional-  "Maybe" from the movie Annie, "Love Changes Everything" by Andrew Lloyd Weber (I remember singing it in chorus in high school), and "Santa Fe" from Newsies.

I just like the lyrics.  Smile

  • I don't know if they are untraditional but I do "Stay Awake" and "Feed the Birds" from Mary Poppins.  And lots of Beatles.

    Totally!

And, I saw Pat Benetar and REO Speedwagon while I was pg with Hart, but I don't think Hit Me with Your Best Shot or Keep on Lovin' You constitute as good lullabies

    dang ;)

  • The "Sing Me To Sleep" - Indie Lullabies compilation is awesome. It's my favorite, I actually used to listen to it in the car before LO was born.

  • Oops, as far as stuff I sing...it's mostly russian lullabies. Stuff I grew up hearing my grandma and Mom sing. Mostly it's "In A Glade", Milla Jovovich does a decent cover of it:

  • I stick with musicals: "On My Own" and "Castle on a Cloud" from Les Mis, "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" from The Wizard of Oz, and "Edelweiss" from Sound of Music.

"Dream a Little Dream" by The Mama's and the Papa's.

This is my go-to song to sing to my daughter. She loves it. I sing a lot of old standards and motown as well.

  • Anything by The Beatles, but mainly "Nowhere Man," "I Me Mine," and "Here Comes the Sun."
    "To me, you are perfect."

I love singing to a baby boy You'll Be in My Heart by Phil Collons from Tarzan. You probably know that one though since your siggy calls your LO a man-cub!
