I started clomid last feb (2010) and jan 2010 my FSH levels were 8.2. I was on clomid 11 months and when i started the new clinic my FSH levels are 10.3 (high/borderline) could this be a cause, bc i was on clomid so long?
I've done one cycle with clomid. We will only do 3 clomid cycles before changing protocols. My RE will only allow 6 lifetime uses of it. I'm not sure if it affects FSH levels, however if you are concerned I would certainly ask your Dr. We are our own best advocates. Hope you find some answers!

Not sure about the FSH levels but I had no response on two different doses of clomid so I was switched after 2 cycles. I have another friend who is on it right now and her MD is taking her off after the 6th dose.
Are you seeing a RE or just an OB/GYN? If you are just seeing an OB/GYN, please consider a RE. OB's do not know as much about the meds as RE's do.
My RE told me that a person should only be on clomid for a total of 6 cycles in their lifetime. It actually said the same thing on the pamplet that was attached to the meds. when I picked it up at CVS.

This. My RE doesn't use Clomid for treatment cycles at all. He does use it in testing and calls it a "clomid challange test" to watch how you react and does u/s every other day during that "test" cycle.

I moved on after two cycles, mostly because of our diagnosis, but if we had wanted to try it again we would have needed a break because it was already starting to impact my lining pretty dramatically from cycle #1 to cycle #2.

My Ob/Gyn even said this! 11 cycles is quite a long time to be on clomid. If you're working with an OB/Gyn, I would seriously consider switching to an RE. If you're working with an RE, I would question an RE let would have you on Clomid for 11 months. I would also consider finding a new RE or at the very least discuss a new tx plan asap. I am not in anyway saying this to be snarky. It's just that clomid can cause a lot of issues and really shouldn't be taken for that long.
I don't know if it can cause your FSH to rise though. GL and keep us updated.

my RE only does 3 monitored cycles of clomid, after 3 cycles my lining was already being impacted.
I would find another dr

Are you seeing an RE or an obgyn? You were definately on clomid too long, but I don't know if it has an impact. My RE explained that while there has been no proof, there is suspicion that clomid can cause long term effects which is why they say no more than 6 cycles in your life. He wasn't overly tied to the number he indicated he was more moving me on because he thought we'd have more success with injects. I would be getting a second opinion for sure!

ya definitly have been seeing a infertility clinic not a gyne, i did switch our first appt with the new doctor was jan 3rd and thats when i found out my FSH levels were high, ugh now im scared
When I was just seeing a gyno I took 9 rounds of Clomid. I just recently switched to an IVF Dr. who put me on my 10th round. He said you have a lifetime max of 12. I'm so upset that I didn't switch Dr.'s sooner and that I did so many failed rounds.
