Hi ladies,
I am a big lurker but have never gotten up the courage to actually post. My DH and I are having a problem coming up with a name for our 2nd DS. Our first is Henry James, which we both LOVE. James is a family name from my side.
So far the only names that we can agree on are Elijah and Benjamin (Eli or Ben). So my first question is, do you think either of these goes well with Henry? Also, the middle name is an issue because FIL wants us to use his name. It is Dennis. I dont really think this flows well with either name but do you think one is better than the other?
Elijah Dennis (Eli) or Benjamin Dennis (Ben)
If not, any suggestions?
Thanks for the help! Hope you are all having a great weekend.
Re: help for boy #2
do you want to use dennis?
benjamin dennis sounds fine, it flows. i don't really like it, but it does flow, IMO.
elijah dennis doesn't work for me.
maybe use denny? or combine dennis with another name? maybe another family member

This. I don't mind Benjamin Dennis, but am appalled your FIL's mn will be used just because he wants it. I was asking my Dad what my Grandpa's middle name was and instead he quipped "Why use his name, you should use mine?" Um no Dad, not how it works. FWIW, I would never name my child in honor of my Dad or any one else that I would view it as less than flattering to my LO. Not saying that's the case with your FIL, just my $.02.
My DS is Henry, too.
What about Benjamin Elijah? Not a fan of your FIL wanting you to use his name. Who says that?
Elijah Dennis.
I don't think Dennis is bad, or flows poorly. However, if it bothers you, could you use DH's first or middle name? That way, it is still honoring the paternal side.
I vote Benjamin. I think Ben and Henry sound cute together, and I hear Ben less than I hear Eli.
Dennis is fine. I think it is good to use a name from DHs side since you used your Dad's name for the first LO, so I would use it regardless of how it sounds. But I think it sounds fine with either name.
I'd roll with Benjamin Elijah. Or whatever two names that YOU and your DH like. Why would your FIL impose himself on your baby naming?
If you do wanna go with Dennis, it sounds much better as a first name i.e. Dennis Elijah.
