3rd Trimester

Should I go to the hospital?

This is my second child and with my first had a c-section and never felt contractions. Right now I have a fever of 100.5 feel a little nauseous.  Every now and then I get waves of pain in my back/abdomen.  I'm not really sure if it's high/low/in the middle...or in my back or abdomen or both...I can't tell the difference.  To me they are pretty painful but my belly isn't getting hard.  They last about 1 minute and are irregular. I haven't eaten since breakfast because of the fever and just lost my appetie.  I have been drinking some water (probably should be drinking more).  I'm thinking gas pains because I haven't eaten all day.

Re: Should I go to the hospital?

  • Oh and I'm 25 weeks pregnant.

  • I had a stomach bug when I was about 27 or 28 weeks with DD and I had some pretty regular contractions due to the dehydration and the stress on my body.  I called my OB and they ended up admitted me to the hosp so I could be monitored and they gave me 2 bags of fluid.  It doesn't hurt to call your dr's on call #.

  • I would totally go in to the hospital. Dehydration can cause labor and it's better to go in and get fluid then not. I had been drinking water all day long when I got sick and threw up everything and  by the time I got to the hospital 1.5 hours later (drive is 40 mintues) They had to pump me full of fluid as well. So I say go.

  • i would drink a lot more water, lay down, take  tylenol and try timing your "pains".  they could be contrax...but probably due only to dehydration.  i'd be more concerned with the fever, and getting it DOWN.  if things seem timable, call your L&D triage and follow their recommendation.
