Hello!
I stopped my BCP after 6 years in Dec '09, and had one normal period (I believe I felt 'ovulation cramps' on CD 15, and had a period on CD 32). After that, my cycles got longer and longer.
When they got to be 70+ days in August '10, I went to my OB/GYN for an ultrasound in Sept. He saw many small cysts on my right ovary, and saw what he thought to be a dermoid cyst in my left ovary, and set me up for a surgery in Nov '10 to remove the cyst. During surgery, he found there was no cyst, and the shadowing on the ultrasound was most likely what he then found to be endometriosis. He saw several signs of it, and even found scarring on my bowl and other organs. He didn't say they were directly related, but from what I researched, I thought they may be. However, I have never had any symptoms of endo.
So, now he's "almost positive" that I don't ovulate, and that what I thought were "periods" was probably just random breakthrough bleeding. He told me not to use his word as birth control, as there's always a chance. Otherwise, he told me when we're ready, to call him, and we'd start medical interventions, starting with clomid.
My last "cycle" was 123 days; I had my period on Dec 30, 2010. I call them periods because I bleed for 3-4 days, it's dark/normal red, and I feel "cramping/tightness" in my uterus area for the first two days.
My husband and I stopped preventing in Aug '10, and started 'trying' in Nov '10. I feel like us trying naturally is a little 'useless' because I have NO clue of when I'm ovulating, if I even do, but I think we need to try naturally before jumping into medicine. I know we have not been trying for too long, but reading y'alls experiences are helping me see & understand the possibilities of what I may have to go through.
My husband and I plan on starting the Clomid process in Oct '11 if nothing happens before hand.
Anyways. I probably won't post much, but in case I did, thought you should know a little about me. I don't know have any friends IRL that have issues like I do, so I thought this would be the place to get insight & support.
(Sorry so long- I tend to ramble).
Any advice is welcome. ![]()
Re: introducing myself- long, sorry.
Welcome! I agree with goodgollie... may be worth getting a consultation with an RE if possible. They will mae sure you get proper monitoring on Clomid. If we had done Clomid without monitoring and trigger, there was an excellent chance I would have ended up with 5-6 mature follies and I wasn't ready for that.
also in addition to thyroid make sure you get your prolactin checked if you haven't already. It can also cause your symptoms, and if that's what is going on, clomid won't help. Best of luck!

Thank you both for the advice. Both of those were things I didn't know/heard of, and no matter how much I google symptoms, it's really hard to figure out what I need to do.
I'm definitely going to look into an RE and getting more things checked out.
