dd has this rash on her back (more like in between her shoulders). It is a red area with a bunch of tiny red bumps that she scratches and bleed a tiny bit. The doc said to try switching soap and shampoo first. she has been on johnson baby since birth. I tried using aveeno because i was told it was more natural - although the ingredients looked mostly the same - and now it is worse. Burts bees makes a huge rash all over.
Any suggestions on something to switch to?
Re: rash help and new soap rec's please
no, it just came on all the sudden about a month ago
Stop using anything. Most babes really don't get very dirty. If you need soap, try unscented glycerin soap. FWIW, most natural products give me hives. They often contain natural ingredients which can irritate many people, such as lavender or nettle extracts. So I stick with glycerin soap (which is natural), castille soap (olive or coconut oil), or mild soaps like cetaphil.
You should also consider bathing LO less frequently, such as weekly. Depending on their skin, bathing in water can strip their skin of moisture, leaving them with itchy rashes. It's made a HUGE difference for my DD. We tried all kinds of things to clear up her skin, including allergy tests, food elimination, changing detergents and soaps, etc.
I also highly recommend CeraVe cream. It builds a lipid layer on the skin to retain moisture. It's amazing stuff.
We use California baby products with DD. She has pretty sensitive skin and they don't irritate her at all.
DD also gets little bumpy rashes from time to time. The pedi said it's dry skin/eczema and told us to try aquaphor. We're usually able to clear it up pretty quickly with that (although I'm not good about consistently using cream/lotion because DD hates it!)
We can not skip bathtime or she refuses to go to sleep. but i can try not using soap.
where could i purchase these magic soaps and creams, at any drugstore?
I have never heard of them before.
eta: apparently it has been so long since i was here i do not remember how to use the quote function - lol
Cetaphil, ceraVe you should be able to find at any drugstore. Target sells castille soap (Dr. Bronner's brand) and california baby products.
