IUI without Clomid? Know of any docs?

Hi All,

My acupuncturist suggested that I do IUI without Clomid if I'm going to do IUI at all.  She said I don't have any issues in the luteal phase and therefore wouldn't need it.  I'd really like to avoid any and all fertility drugs, anyway.  Does anyone know of any docs in Pgh that would do IUI sans Clomid?  Thanks!

  • You could check with RHS in Penn Hills, we used them but did Clomid only. They were wonderful. Can I ask how you know there's no LP defect? I personally had a textbook 28 day cycle but wasn't ovulating w/o the Clomid.
  • That's a good question and I too would attempt to avoid clomid. I have heard good things about that location in Penn Hills too. I have my first appointment with a endocrine specialist Monday morning and am anxious to see what she is going to recommend for treatment-I'm not sure why I am having the issues I am. What accupuncter do you use? Is it expensive?

  • Sorry I never responded to this!  I don't know that i ever got an email saying someone responded to it...sorry!  I think the acu knows i don't have a LP defect because 1) it's evident from charting my temp that i ovulate & opk's tell me that I do, 2) i think the lack of LP defect is known because my temp is consistently above 98 degrees every month.  I *think* that's why...but not positive.

The acu I use is Joanna Fortune in Wexford.  I reallllly like her, and it is expensive. It's $100 for acu and then about $56 for a week's worth of herbal tea that you have to make.  I've been going there for quite some time and haven't gotten pregnant, but i feel like it's worth it for the issues that i have.  Well, she tells me i have issues, western doctors tell me i'm 100% ok, even though i've been trying for 3+ years...
