Re: Eating every 2, and no naps!!!

  • Your boys sound like mine at that age........  Can you try feeding them as soon as they wake up and tickle their feet so they don't fall asleep?  Change their diapers mid-feed to give them a break?

Also, if they are wide awake for 2 hours at a time, it might be too much for them... maybe they need your help falling back asleep.

  • How much are you feeding them per feeding and per day? Are you positive they're actually hungry at 2 hours? My boys will fuss when they're tired and I used to mistake that for hunger. (I did that for 2 months straight.) They will also wake up from naps randomly and fuss but aren't hungry. (I also screwed that up for 2 months straight.) Just a thought...

cannon who's over 7 lbs gets 3 oz and Cooper almost 6 lbs is eating 2 oz. I try to paci them, soothe them, I'll pick them up calm down then lay back down. (this is usually at two hr mark) if 10-15 mins go by and they are still showing hunger signs I feed. The only way I find out if I was right is if they take the feeding or not. If they do then I feel bad for making them wait. If they don't eat, I'm pisse that I screwed up the schedule cause I try to keep them to eat cause I don't want to waste my milk. :( they eat 8-10 x a day. They do fuss a lot now (coop more then cannon) and they are noisey sleepers AND I think I'm screwing up cause I gave in andswaddle them with arms out cause they wiggle and fight sleep when arms are in but wake themselves up because they hit themselves.

I totally know where you're coming from with being frustrated at them not eating/screwing up the schedule and everything. I literally misread my kids' cues for 2 months straight - AFTER I spent two months learning their cues. I'm an idiot.

Have you talked to your pedi about how much they should be feeding at this weight/age? Because the 2.5oz per pound guideline means 17.5oz per day for Cannon and 15oz for Cooper. Not that they HAVE to do exactly that (mine never did - they were always above or below depending on the week), but if you're feeding them 24oz a day (3oz x 8 feedings) that's a LOT.

  • Lol. That's probably why he's almost gaining 2 oz a day... He eats it all in 15 mins too. It's also hard cause I'm somewhat attempting babywise and hubbs helps with night feedings and they tend to be fussier a night and he just thinks they're hungry all the time. To him I think it's the quickest way to make them stop crying, he also doesn't understand that babies cry sometimes, NOR does he understand that sometimes I have to let them cry for a moment to gather myself, he called me selfish last night.
