nbr at all: dog food question :)

our pup has been going through some major tummy issues. we have been feeding him the limited ingredient blue buffalo but it isn't working with him. he loves the taste, but it isn't sitting right with him if you catch my drift.

any recs on other brands of limited ingredient dog food that your pup likes?

  • We do Wellness Simple. Currently on the Salmon, but they have duck, lamb and something else too.

  • Our dog didn't do well on Blue Buffalo at all.  His poop was always runny and he threw up a lot.  We ended up switching to Purina One and he's awesome on it.

Its not limited ingredient or special or anything but it does at least list a meat as the first ingredient.

ETA:  I forgot the best part, its only $18 at Walmart for the big bag :)

  • We use Wellness as well and love it! One of our dogs gets bladder infections really easily and has been bladder infection free since we made the switch! :::knock on wood:::
  • We use Innova for our golden lab. It's 5 star rated on dog food analysis.

  • We typically use Innova.  But have also used Wellness.  Both have been good.

One option would be to go to Bark and Purr on Burnet.  They have lots of high rated dog food and they can talk with you about the options.  We find them very helpful.

  • We use Royal Cannin for our german sheppard. He's got food allergies to either corn or rice and it's been one of the few that has worked.

  • Taste of the Wild or Nature's Balance.  Do you go to Tomlinson's?  If not, I highly recommend them and they're very knowledgeable and can help point you in the right direction.
  • we use Wellness (Core) which is the grain-free variety. our dog does really on it!
  • I have two dogs with allergy problems.  We like the Wellness Simple Solutions, but lately we've been using California Naturals.  We like the lamb based one and there's also a chicken.  RC is allergic to chicken so we use the lamb.  Love it!
