She'll take a long one mid day(4+ hours) but flat out refuses to take a morning one. I let her fuss(no crying) for a while today. When I finally picked her up she was in the greatest mood. It's been the same for two other days this week. She'll take VERY small cat naps(5-10) min here and there but other than that she's raring to go. It doesn't matter where I try to get her to nap. My arms, swing, crib, bouncy chair....she's just not having it
At night she goes down at 8ish. She sleeps a 5 hours stretch followed by a four hour one. She typically goes back down for another 2-3.
She's almost 7 wks. Do I just roll with it?
Re: ok so this kid pretty much refuses to take multiple naps.
Ditto this, so long as her preferred napping --or non-napping-- schedule doesn't A) make her a constant crankasaurus or
disrupt her night time sleep I'd just let her do her thing. Unfortunately (or fortunately for some) I really think a lot of how kids sleep is just hardwired in them. They come pre-programmed to nap or not nap, STTN or not and you just get what you get. It's the baby lottery.
I think "nap preferences" is a great name for it. There's no "working" on a nap schedule at this age, and probably won't be for a while. That was at least my experience!
Just roll with it. She is going to do this to you a couple of times...LOL. Kolby dropped his morning nap at 4 months. Then just recently picked it back up...sorta. Each time they hit a growth spurt they rearrange your life!
So true! I typically just let Olivia set her own schedule. I just kept to the EASY routine. Eat Activty Sleep (your time). I didn't set a certain time like its 9 you need a nap or its 7 you must eat etc.
Her sitter also lets her set her own time and now she is getting the hang of a 9 am (2 hour nap) and 1 pm (2 hour nap). Just go with the flow.
