My uncle came over yesterday and put up a chair rail in our hallway for me. I've been wrestling with this hallway since we moved in, trying to get it to look right, because it's right down the middle of the house and it's huge, so it always looked blah and empty. With the chair rail, it looks SO much better, and I was all excited about it, so I posted on the Nest D&R board and linked to the pics in my blog.
A few minutes later, replies started rolling in: "It looks great, but I'm sorry to tell you that the chair rail is upside-down."
Doh! I didn't even know there WAS a correct way to put it, so I just picked the way that looked best to me. It took him 2-3 hours and a lot of miter cuts around the entryway corners, so I can't just flip it over and can't imagine asking him to do it all over...but now it's gonna bug me.
Re: Frick!! I hate it when I screw up like this:
I just checked out your blog and I think it's thin enough that is looks fine and I never would have noticed.
I can't believe how grown up E is.
We put K's chair rail "upside down" as well. I thought it looked better that way. No one said anything when we sold the house.
