I got something from our pedi, and it worked like a charm. He had it all over his belly, on the back of his knees and was starting to get it up on his neck and back. I put it on twice a day for like 3 days and it is gone completly. And hasn't came back! Before the RX, I tried Eczema cream that had winnie the pooh on it and it worked pretty well, but not as good as the RX one! HTH

My fiance has terrible eczema. Nothing we've used on his skin has worked. So, when my daughter started having spots of it on her skin, I bawled. I didn't want her to have itchy, dry skin. The doctor recommended Aquaphor on her skin whenever we thought about it. We used petroleum jelly instead. Within a few days, it cleared up. We put it on her before she went to bed(the spot was on her face), and any time she went down for a nap.
The only other thing the doctor suggested was not to overbathe her. My daughter gets 2 baths a week, the rest of the time, she gets wiped down and then immediately lotioned up.
Holy smokes guys - Please see a pediatric dermatologist if there is one in your area, or any dermatologist. Eczema can make your child itchy and miserable, and bad eczema can lead to skin infections. If it is mild (not really rough or red), cerave cream (not lotion) can be used to keep things at bay. It can be found in some drugstores and certainly online. Otherwise, topical prescription steroids (stronger than hyrdocortisone) can be used 5 days week when things look rough and red. Your best bet would be to get true medical advice, and to ignore anyone who says it is simply something your child has to live with. You can also a good anti-itch medication if DC can't sleep well becaue of it.
DS has mild eczema. Our pedi recommended regular over the counter 1% Cortisone ointment (the ointment not the cream). It works great, DS has it on his arms/legs/cheeks and it helps clear it up overnight. To help prevent it from coming back pedi recommended Burt's Bees Cream (not lotion) or coconut oil.
For the patches on her body - DermaSmoothe RX. For her face/neck: Desonide RX. And then Aquaphor/Eucerin to keep her skin moisturized when she doesn't have any flare ups.
I took DS to a pedi dermatologist and got him strong steroid creams, which have really helped. We also use aquaphor and only bathe him about 2-3 times a week.?

My son has really bad eczema. His face gets so bad that it becomes weepy and gets infected.
We can not use any types of lotions on his body (anywhere) or he'll break out because of the scents, etc. We apply petroleum jelly that you can get in a squeeze style tube at wal-mart. Generic is also available to save money.
He is on Zyrtec twice a day. At night he gets Nasonex in each nostril. We have several steroid creams for his body if he breaks out. But for his face we have a cream that is non steroid but it doesn't work at all.. The allergist has us apply the weakest steroid that we have for his body to his face twice a day to control the rashing and weeping.
He also has a prescription for itching but it doesn't seem to work too well... He is also on Similac Alimentum for food allergies.
Good luck... It is BEYOND frustrating for my son and myself.
