Friday Shredding Check In

Today was Day 5 of Level 1 and I kicked butt.  The cardio at the end was a bit of a killer days 1-4 but today, no problem.  I am definitely bumping up my hand weights to 5 pounds for the rest of Level 1.  Now that this level is getting easier, I am terrified of Level 2.  I know SusieQ mentioned walking push-ups...you've got to be kidding me!  That is a face plant waiting to happen.  Against better judgement, I did step on the scale this morning...not much action there but I am optimistic.  For any of you in Level 2, do you think it is essential to be able to do push ups from the toes (not the modified knee kind) in order to do Level 2?  I am still on the knees and wondering if I need to step up my game.

Re: Friday Shredding Check In

  • I just started the shred yesterday. I've got some serious knee pain and I'm so sore, mostly in my legs. DH had to get my coffee mug out of the cabinet this morning bc I physically could not get it, lol. Should I push through and attempt to do day 2 or give my muscles a rest and start back tomorrow? Do you do it every single day?

DO NOT GIVE IT REST!!!!! LOL. I was the same way. Trust me the next time you do the shred it will be worse if you rest those muscles. It is better to keep going. I do the shred every day and Days 1-4 are the hardest. I am on day 17 today and I haven't been sore since day 4. Hang in there! Drink lots of water!

I am on level 2 and I still can't do the toe pushups. There are modified versions in the second level also. It's very doable.

This! I am day 9, level 2 and I just started level 2 today. I can't do regular push ups for the life of me, but I was able to complete level 2. I found it more entertaining then level 1 and it seemed to go a lot quicker. I really enjoyed level 2 even though it kicked my butt!! There are a lot of the same moves from level 1 and some very different ones. I feel like I worked my abs harder today then the past 8 days, but strength seemed easier for some reason. I think I will switch between the two levels for awhile.

  • Day 3 Level 1 DONE!  It is definitely starting to get "easier," though I gotta say my muscles are tired! haha

  • I just started doing 30 day Shred.  I did Level 1 for about a week, then started level 2.  I switch between level 1 and 2.  I try to do 2 but if I am sore or something I will go back to level 1.  I think I actually like level 2 better also - except for a few moves  : )

I am going back to work next Wednesday and still need to fit back into my work pants!!!  I am hoping a few more days of this will do it.  I am getting close!

  • Day 4 level 1 done! I feel like its getting better. I love the cardio and have no problem keeping up with that right now. The push ups, on the other hand, still suck. I tried doing the toe ones today and ALMOST made it through the first set. But i still had to go back to the knees. There's always tomorrow though. And I'm making a little progress on those side lunge/arm raises.

I have to say, I'm a little disappointed in the abs. I haven't felt like my abs have gotten hardcore worked, and thats my biggest body insecurity right now! I did see Jillian Michaels has a six week abs challenge. Perhaps I'll give that a go after....

Anyway, looking forward to Day 5. Good job, ladies!

  • I did L1 Day 5 today, with both of my little girls joining in to "help" and coach me. It's really difficult to do push-ups with a toddler sitting on your back, and a 4-year-old laying on her stomach with her butt in the air doing her version of push-ups right next to you! Laughter is not good for exercise, but it was pretty funny.
  • I couldn't shred yesterday because I had to work. I work 12 hour shifts so working all night sore would blow. However, I did do the workout today and it is getting easier. I am on day 3 and still on level 1 but I am hoping to move up to level 2 next week. I think this is definitely something I can stick with!
