Baby Proofing

I'm finally getting around to baby proofing as it looks like Rachel will start crawling in the next few weeks and I need some suggestions.

How would you baby prood a bed that is like the one in the pic below? I'm afraid she'll get her head stuck in between the bars.  When I was little I got my head stuck in a chair and it has to be cut off so I'm a bit paranoid about this. I thought about putting something in front of it but then it just becomes something to climb on.

Any other baby proofing tips are appreciated.

Re: Baby Proofing

  • How about a piece of fabric with ties at the corners stretched tight and tied to the footboard?  Not only would it be covered but it might be "out of sight, out of mind" situation.

  • I also like the fabric idea. That bed looks so comfy!

  • I would move the bed so that the headboard is against the wall, and take off the footboard completely.

  • Thanks for the ideas ladies!  DH and I were talking about it last night and we may get one of these https://www.onestepahead.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=131755&parentCategoryId=85183&categoryId=85216 Or take the foot board off completely.  We want to put our place up for sale in the spring so we need to make sure whatever we do doesn't turn off a potential buyer.  But i like the fabric idea and thought about using an extra duvet cover that we have. I may do that until we can get ideas 1 or 2 executed

Our bed just looks like that one. I wish my room was that clean right now lol

    Thanks again!
