How much did you pay for your maternity pictures?

One of my friends does photography and she has always charged $50-$80 for a sitting and then you get your digital copies. I was expecting this the whole time and then recently found out that she charges $140 now. I know this might not seem like a lot to many people but with all of the other things we need to buy/pay for I don't know if it's an option.

I'm just curious to know what everyone paid for theirs? Is $140 on the low end or average? TIA

  • $100 for a maternity/newborn sitting fee combo.
  • Loading the player...
  • That is really inexpensive, especially if that includes the images.

  • Having mine in a week and a half and will be paying $400 for sitting fee + a disc with all of my images. She's the photojournalist who took pictures for my wedding. I think it's expensive, but I just love her work. I wanted something artsy and not in a studio. I knew I wanted to splurge a bit on this so I've been saving up for it.
  • It was a $65 sitting fee and $300 for the pictures. I did them with DD but not getting them with this baby. We only have one of the pictures up and the rest are in a box. :( Not worth the money. My advice - spend money on pictures of the baby - NOT your belly. Baby is way cuter.

  • I charge $200 for a maternity shoot if it takes place in my studio or $250 if it were on location. Her price seems fair to me : )
  • Ours was 150 for one location, and we will get 20 digital images.
  • I will be using a photographer that is trying to start up a new business.  Her sitting fee is $75 and then a minimum $50 print purchase.  So at the minimum I will be paying $125.

  • I put a Wanted ad on craiglist for a maternity/newborn photographer and stated that we do not have a lot of "extra" money due to the baby coming. I let people who were interested email me and I found one guy who is an established photographer looking to expand his portfolio. He said he would only charge for the prints. The other person that emailed me if only going to charge $25 an hour at her home studio or $50 on location. And we get all the images on a disk with the rights to print them ourselves. I think we are going with her. Personally, I don't want to pay a lot of money for the pictures b/c of everything else we have to buy. I would not pay $140. If I couldn't find a good deal I would just have family take pictures. That being said, I would not pay $140, mostly b/c I don't have it to spend on an extra like pictures. I would check craigslist and see if you get any better deals that way.

  • $310 for Maternity and Newborns combined with rights to all the pictures and 3 mini picture books of newborn pics. I thought it was a good deal...
  • $100 for the sitting fee, an 8x10, and a cd with all of the images so we can print wherever we want.

  • I am paying $155 which includes the sitting fee and a disk with all the pictures and the right to print/copy. I think just the sitting fee was $85 and then she did a discount for the sitting fee and disk together. But this was also one of the cheapest places I could find ( that I liked the pictures I saw anyway) Lots of them were $100-$200 and more just for the sitting fee!
