Making a "do not call" list for delivery...
So... let me say that my mom has some "issues" and is very jealous, especially of DH's family. Hospital where we will be delivering is a block from my mom's work. (This is also where my two trips to L & D have been.) This was not by my choice specifically, just happens to be the only place OB delivers.
Both visits to the hospital we notified both my mom and the IL's, but specifically said "NO visitors." My mom was a little peeved but agreed. Today MIL decides that she is going to call FIL home from work and drive the 45 minutes to the hospital, without telling us. DH gets a call from his father telling us "We're in the lobby." I immediatly call for my nurse and explain I want no visitors, I mean seriously I am half naked on a hospital bed and have people looking at my goods!
My nurse explains that only one person is allowed back in triage, and if she does get past security she will divert her back to the lobby. HA! Well my nurse walks out of my room and goes to the right...two seconds later here comes MIL from the left! I am sorry, but you talk about a pregnant woman wanting to get up out the bed and cause bodily harm. Thank God for DH who immediatly jumps all over the situartion and tells MIL she has to leave, that only one person can be there...To add to this MIL says "Well do you want to walk downstairs, get something to eat or drink?"
Ok so um...at this point no doctor has been in to see me, we have no clue what's happening and you think DH wants to or I want him to leave the room? Thats a NO! DH refuses and after about a total of 15 minutes she leaves. This was after she openly admitted she told security they had to let her up because I was in labor. AND I've now heard ten times tonight, "They said four people can be in the room when you are in labor." And the kicker? I get a text from my mom, "They (IL's) aren't home...are they there with you?" I explain what happen and get "Yeah likely story...no comment." So now my mom is pissed that she wasn't invited to the party.
I've also hearby been informed tonight (from MIL), that "I want to be one of the first to see them put those babies in my sons arms for the first time. I'll wait outside the room but I am coming in the moment they are born." --> Um no! We want it to be private for the first minutes.
She is now under the impression that four people are allowed in the room no matter what...lady we have already have this discussion and you were flat out told DH and only DH will be allowed in...and if I am having a c-section that veto's everything anyway and changes the rules.
I am livid beyond believe. DH and I have decided that both mom's have now lost their right to be on the notification list, prior to labor...as a result we will notify all important people when the event is done and over.
Ok vent over and I will quit being a post hog...for now :-)

OMG I am so sorry. Good for you and your DH for standing your ground today. Ugh this story is what nightmares are made of. Hang in there.
Your story is exactly why no one will be getting an I'm in labor call, everyone will get a we've had the baby call.

That SUCKS! I'm so sorry that happened to you, beyond rude. Smart plan to not even call anyone when the time comes.
I'm hoping that's how we do it too. I'd like to call and say "we're ready for visitors" instead of calling to say "I'm in labor." I just need to get DH to agree since it's his parents that are "practising the fastest route to the hospital."

She flat out lied and said she knew I was in labor...after the fact she claims they even called up to the floor and the nurse said she could come up.
As far as I am concerned...your babies, your rules. What do people NOT get in that statement? Sorry they are being so awful...hugs.
I am so thankful that my IL's live a 10 hr drive away and my mom is about a 6hr plane ride away. Their visits have to be planned. We have the same plan...only DH and I in the delivery room and everyone else will be informed after the fact.

OMG!
I am so, so sorry that both sets of parents seem to know no limits. MIL had told us that she wanted to fly in when I went in labor so she could be there for the birth, but when dh explained that we wanted it to be a private time with us and our new child she understood.
I don't blame you one bit for not wanting to tell them when you go into labor. Especially after the lying stunt your MIL pulled to get to see you this time. Who knows what she will pull when you really are in labor. But you have to be careful that you don't tell anyone who might let the news slip to your mother or MIL. You might have to institute a not telling anyone at all policy so they don't hear through the grapevine.

After months of being postponed or cancelled, FET #1.3 (Natural FET) brought us twin girls!
I'd be making sure they are aware of her craziness so it doesn't happen again. They must have some method to enforce keeping certain people out right?
2 years, 2 surgeries, 2 clomid fails, 2 IUIs, 1 loss, IVF #1 - 10/25/10 = BFP!, DS is now 3.5yrs!
TTC #2 - 6/12 surgery #3, FET #1 & 1.2 = BFN, 12/2012 FET #2 = BFP! DD is 1.5 yrs!

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929

This. People lie all the time and security personnel should know that. I'd be very concerned that they were willing to let her go up to L&D based on her word alone.
I'm just bored and lurking (and wishing) on PAIF, and I came across your post. It is just making my blood boil! I am so sorry you have to deal with this crap. The ILs, I won't even touch, because your MIL in particular is just insane. But your mom giving you a hard time about it? Even worse!
