Trouble TTC

It's over;(

1st beta (8dp5dt)=25; 2nd beta (13dp5dt)=139; 3rd beta (22dp5dt)=169

Sometimes a woman just knows her body, and I knew it was over after my 2nd beta.  After the 2nd beta, all symptoms went away and I felt different...can't explain it.  I am so sad and pissed that my body is so freaking broken.

This is my 2nd m/c and it seems to happen around 5 1/2 weeks.  They did test me for Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome which came back normal, but I wonder if something else is going on like MTHFR or Natural Killer Cells?  Who the fvck knows, but I really want to rule out everything possible prior to our next cycle.

I am most sad to have to tell DH, he will be heartbroken:(

ETA: posted before I was done.

If there's one thing I've learned while waiting my turn,
it's that in each life some rain falls but you also get some sun.
After 2 years & 2 losses, our little man arrived 8-2011.
  • I'm so sorry ((hugs)).

I would definately ask about the RPL panel.  My RE said the "new" thinking is that there's no reason not to do it after 2 m/c (instead of the 3 they use to make you wait).  I did part of it with my OB, but she didn't order everything, so I'm getting the rest done on Saturday.

I hope you can get your RE to test you for everything.  When they tested you for APS did they test you for all of the antiphospholipid antibodies (there are something like 8 or 9 of them).  Even if you do not actually fall in to the APS category, a high positive result on any of the antiphospholipid antibodies can merit treatment.  Also, in addition to MTHF which you mentioned, you should ask them to do full reproductive thrombphilia screening.  This includes some additional possibilities like Factor V Leiden and Factor II Mutation along with several other possibilities.

    Good luck!!

ETA - Many REs are willing to do this testing way before the previous 3 loss standard.  I asked my RE if he would do them before I started IVF even though I did not have any losses and he had no problem doing it.  Additionally, even though I have really crappy insurance that doesn't cover any IF treatment or meds, I was able to get them to cover all of the RPL testing even without having RPL.  ((HUGS))

Thanks STL...this is what I needed so that I can request specific testing.  I wasn't familiar with all the different testing and now have a list for my appt. on Monday.  And I totally agree that getting all testing prior to IVF is the right decision, especially anyone OOP.

Thanks everyone for your support.  I have been preparing myself for this for alittle over a week and am dealing ok.  DH not so much, he cried...which made me cry:(  I was doing so good until that point.  I can't let myself fall that deeply into depression, or I don't know if I can find my way back...kwim?  I feel so numb to all this (the constant bfn and m/c), it's getting kinda scary.  Just the thought of being childless is extremely overwhelming:(

I am so sorry you are going through this.  If you PM me your email, I can email you the list of tests my RE ran for reproductive thrombophilia.  I will note that the new RE wants to run the rest of the antiphospholipid antibodies (previous RE only ran a few) even though the ones that were tested all came back positive for one of the versions (I think it was IgM) and beta 2 blycoprotein antibody came back off the chart high so I am already being treated with Lovenox.  The new RE will also be running some of the tests on the following website (particularly antithyroid antibodies and the full thyroid panel).  This site also has some RPL testing listed:  https://www.fertilityplus.org/faq/miscarriage/rpl.html

You can ask for NKa and RIP testing (my previous RE uses MILab - Millenova for these).

I haven't experienced losses.  But I definitely know what it feels like to be faced with the possibility of not having a child.  If you ever need to chat with someone, I am here.  I have been having a hard time with this myself lately.  ((HUGE HUGS))

  • sorry to hear your sad news :(
  • (((((hugs)))))  I am so sorry for your loss - it is truely heartbreaking I know.  I agree completely with STL about the RPL testing and antiphospholipid antibodies testing.  After my 3rd loss my RE did a lot of testing and I found out I have factor V leiden (inherited gene that put me more at risk for clots).  I am lucky I only have one copy, so my risk is not too bad, but still increased.  And as a result, my RE sent me to a hemotologist who ran more antiphospholipid tests (more than my RE ran) and I also came back positive for beta 2 glycoprotein 1 antibodies.

Although they can not say for certain whether one or both of those issues contributed to my losses, they can't rule it out either.  So for my upcoming IVF cycle, I will start lovenox when I start stims.

It is definately worth pursuing.  I am just so sorry that you have to go through this.
