so i had my shower this past weekend and it really has kicked me into baby mode overdrive. last night i went to target and picked up two containers (powder) of tide free 'n clear so that i can wash clothes, sheets, etc. this weekend. i chose tide for two reasons....one, it's cheaper than dreft and two, i figured i can use it on our clothing, too. my question is, which one did you choose and why? im guessing they're essentially the same thing? and maybe, just maybe, there is a cheaper alternative to both out there that someone can share with me!
Re: tide free 'n clear vs dreft- who wins?

I use Tide free and clear. Since I don't have an outside baby I can't tell you if there are any problems with it. I have only cleaned new clothes with it, although I did wash a white blanket from babies r us that got much whiter after I washed it.
When it's gone I'll see if the baby still needs a special detergent, otherwise we will all just use the same one.
No vinegar smell whatsoever! I just normally put it in with the detergent...some people put it in during the rinse cycle.

Since I myself have extremely sensitive skin, I use All Free & Clear (no dyes or fragrances), Downy liquid & dryer sheets (no dyes or fragrances) for myself & my husband. Since these are the only detergent & fabric softener my skin can tolerate, I have opted to use the same for all of the baby items as well. To me it made no sense to buy a separate detergent for her that will do the same thing that the one I already have & use does.
