Night Terrors

Hello Ladies ,

I had an extremely hard labor . I had a spinal and 1 mg morphine drip and felt my entire emergency c section . Has anyone else experienced nightmares this far pp ?

  • Not personally, but I had a very easy c/s where no one was in any distress.  In your situation I wouldn't be surprised that you're still dealing with the stress and trauma of what happened.  I'd strongly encourage you to talk to someone about it (OB, doctor, therapist) - if someone goes through a hard labor and then feels their entire c/s, I'd imagine that could lead to PTSD issues, very understandably.

  • I haven't personally had nightmares.  But I had a lot of dreams about being pregnant again and having a good birth though, as though my subconscious were trying to make me feel better about how my c/s went.  These dreams went on for a long time after my c/s and I had a lot of obsessive thoughts about it while I was awake too.

    Have you heard of PTSD after childbirth?  It's a fairly new concept but women who go through difficult births can develop a form of PTSD.  It often gets confused with postpartum depression.  You can google it and find some good information on it.  I'm not saying that you have that or trying to diagnose you but you might find it helpful to read about others having the same kind of experience.
