I had a lady make most of the baby bedding... blankets, changing pad cover, curtains, etc. She gave me most of the stuff recently, and she had just a little bit of leftover fabric.
I got a wild hair and decided that I wanted to make something for the nursery... So, I decided on a decorative pillow. Now, I have a sewing machine that I use here and there, but I haven't really made anything before. I had to read online instructions on how to make them, but I think they actually turned out okay!! The front side is the printed fabric and the back is a soft "minky" material.
Bonus picture: Here are the matching blankets... I didn't make these!! I had a lady make them for me. :-)
Now if only the furniture would get here!

WOW! Those look fantastic! Very professional. My MIL bought me a $700 Husqvarna sewing machine and I haven't used it in about 2 years.
I feel SO bad, because I was really getting into sewing..... oh well... someday!
Didn't mean to hijack. Those are fabulous pillows, and I love the fabric; very elegant.

Good luck! I am sure you will do great... The pillows were actually not too hard, so I would recommend trying them. Oh, and one thing if you aren't used to buying fabric. Sign up for Joann Fabrics email alerts, and they will send you 40% and 50% off coupons that you can use for fabric. The Joann's coupons are also accepted at Hancock fabrics... That way if you want to buy fabric, you get a BIG discount. :-)

Thanks! (and you didn't hijack!!) We aren't even doing a quilt or comforter, since they won't even get used... I just figured we can leave the blankets out and use those, plus they will be functional. I am all about function!!

That is really bizarre... I still see them, so there wasn't a link issue or anything that made them disappear... Hmm... I use photobucket for my pics. Have you had trouble seeing photobucket pics before? That is so weird.
