Weekly Weigh In!

Welcome to the scale!

How was everyone's week? Any scale or non-scale victories this week?

QOTW: What keeps you motivated when you're struggling to maintain your weight loss efforts? Do you have strategies or tools that you go to when you're just not feeling it?

Re: Weekly Weigh In!

  • I am down 2.4 this week but am not celebrating it because I was up 4 lbs over the previous two weeks. So this is weight I already lost and regained once, kwim?

QOTW: Choosing this QOTW was totally self-serving for me because I am really lacking in the motivation department these days. I don't know if it's the stress of the holidays, the new WW program, illness, DH being out of town 10 of the last 14 days, the weather, whatever, but I am just NOT motivated. I have to be in Hawaii in two months and one would think that would be motivation enough but it's not. I am so BLAH about weight loss right now. I find it hard to get jazzed up about losing a pound here and a pound there every week. I want to lose 15 lbs tomorrow, you know? I am so over the "slow and steady wins the race." Blah, blah, blah.

I need a good jolt of positive motivation here!

  • My week was okay, I lost 1 pound. Not sure what happened, guess my body is just getting used to my new diet.

I would like to find the motivation (and make the time) to get back to the gym a couple days a week. I think it would help me a lot.

  • Gah, I gained 2lbs.  I made it through December just fine, and you'd think I'd be in the clear but no.  On a positive note, I started my my half marathon training on Saturday and it feels so good to be exercising again.

  • I lost 6 this week.. But nothing to celebrate as it comes from the pain ive been having all week that hurts horribly *sometimes* after I eat (they ruled out gallstones but I'm now positive it IS. Going tomorrow to demand further testing.
One thing that has helped is the free fruits... Before I would use up many points to have ice-cream at night... Now DH and I make fruit smoothies with the magic bullet. Kills the sweet craving and only ends up being 1 or 2 pts after adding yogurt or milk.

  • I lost 1 lb or so. We have been eating  very high fiber this week which has helped a lot with not a ton of meat. Also, I joined a gym last Saturday. I went to the gym that day and yesterday. It really helped me feel good about myself plus I like to get away for a bit. My current motivation is pretty much bc I am scared. I am borderline diabetic, have high BP and cholestrol as well as sleep apnea. I HAVE to get to a lower weight so we can TTC later this year. Also, I do not want to turn 30 (14 months from now) overweight like I am.
  • I lost 3 lbs this week.

My major motivation is that my 10 year college reunion is in June and I don't want to go looking frumpy.  Another big motivation is seeing my mother's body when I look in the mirror - it's my thighs especially that don't look like me.  I don't want to be overweight like my mom always was when I was growing up.  As far as other motivations, I need to get to the gym.  I have a workout buddy who inspires me to go to spinning classes, so that helps.

  • I lost 1.5 lbs. this week, down a total of 6.5 lbs so far.  I stay motivated by reminding myself why I'm doing this.  One look at my son and I remember that I want to be there to play with him.  Plus, knowing that we'll be working on #2 this summer keeps me on track.

  • I finally sucked it up and went back to weigh-in on Saturday after not having gone for a month. I gained 4.2, which wasn't nearly as bad as I expected, but obviously any signficant gain is frustrating. Even with the return last week, I have absolutely no motivation this week. I don't know what's going on with me - I've been highly motivated in the past, and was able to resist temptation in even the most challenging situations. Now, if I know that a chocolate bar is within a mile radius, I can't help but hunt it down and consume it with a quickness.

Moesten: I'm with you on wanting to lose 15 lbs tomorrow. I feel so frumpy and down on myself these days. As much as I hate to hear that you're feeling this way, I'm glad that I'm not alone in feeling like this. I guess misery really does love company!

Yep, yep. Preachers and choirs here. This is exactly how I feel. I really don't know where my motivation went. The last time I was on WW I was a demon - totally dedicated, all sorts of progress - but I just can't seem to get to that same mindset this time around. If you are able to find the key to unlocking your motivation, let me know. I hate this as I am sure you do as well. Hopefully we can help each other out positively here rather than looking at each other and saying, "Well, glad I am not the only one struggling." I am going to keep looking for ways to motivate myself and if I find something is working for me I will be sure to pass it along to you. Good luck Allie!

And of course good luck to everyone else as well. I wish you girls continued success and forward motion. MrsGeorge, don't you worry about that little gain this week. Your body is going to be rocking with your new regimen!

Keep working at it everyone. Here's to seeing a lot less of us next week!

This is me exactly.  I haven't checked in much in the past month or so because not only has there not been much to report, I'm sorely lacking in the motivation dept. myself.

I only gained a pound over the holidays and I'm not really sure how that happened.  DH and I both fell off the bandwagon and didn't try to count points with traveling, having guests ourselves, etc.  Additionally, I've found it very DE-motivating to try to come up with the new points values for some of my tried and true, go-to foods and recipes.  I'm just kind of internally ticked that I need to recalculate them.  It's really not a big deal, I guess, but it's not as easy as just plugging the stuff in and having the points right there to record.

Today is my weigh-in day and I'm going to do it right after I take a shower.  I think I gained this week and that bugs me, but I obviously have no one but myself to take the responsibility for it.

I bought 2 Jillian Michaels workout DVDs but I haven't busted them out yet.  I guess it's time, since motivation isn't to be found anywhere else.  Winter doldrums are really taking a toll on me but I don't want to be in this same shape when spring arrives like I was last year.
