I don't have one, but went to a store to check it out. It looks cool, is small (compact) and well cushioned. The motions, however, are not anything like a traditional swing. They max out at a slow sway instead of the more vigorous motion of a swing. For me, it didn't seem worth the cost for the additional types of motion and how long a baby uses a swing.

We have one and love it. One of the best features of it is the white noise it makes. Sometimes we use the whole mamaroo, and sometimes we have him in something else, like the vibrating chair, next to it and just blast the mamaroo's white noise. We sometimes just bounce with him on an exercise ball with the white noise from the mamaroo. But sometimes, he likes just being in the mamaroo and will fall asleep in it. We don't have a traditional swing, but I contemplated getting one as well because he does like the swinging motion (when for instance we swing him a little bit when he's in the infant carrier). But I think it was worth it. Maybe if I could do it over again, I'd try a traditional swing and a loud white noise machine and see if that had the same effect, but I don't regret buying the mamaroo.
We have the Little Lamb swing and the Mamaroo. DS loves the swing but could care less about the Mamaroo. Like PP said-- it doesn't move vigorously enough like the swing. He will sit in it for like 5 minutes and then cry plus he slides down in it no matter what we put in there to keep him in place. I wish he liked it though or at least gave it more of a chance. If u do get it I would suggest maybe looking into getting a cheap or used swing...like PP also said they both move in totally different ways.
My friend has a mamaRoo and her son loves it. She said less than 5 minutes into being placed in it and he's sound asleep. She has a swing too from previous children and he likes it also but tends to stay awake more in it.
I debated gettinga mamaroo because it seems like it takes up much less space, but after reading all the reviews I could find, I've decided against it. My friend has one as well and it just moves so slow...I can completely understand why so many people say their babies get bored in it.
