Re: If you use an in-home daycare?

  • In the in-home DC we were using in Harford County, it was $205/week. After talking to some friends who used other in-home providers, I learned that this was on the high end. Other people were paying $175ish on average. This is for infants obviously, the costs go down once your baby turns 2.

Meg's right. We pay $170/weekly for my DD, she is 15 months old. Once she turns 2, the price will drop to $150 weekly.  Edit: I'm also in Harford County.

  • We pay $200 per week (full time) for DD to go to in home daycare.  The price includes meals (which really doesn't apply to us given DD's age).  Although, she did just start rice/oatmeal cereal and some veggies, which DCP provides herself.

  • Also in Harford County, I paid $175/week for my infant and then $150/week elsewhere.

    She's in a center now and I pay $175/week.

  • This post kind of makes me sick to my stomach when I think about how much we pay for our center.

  • If you contact Child Care Links they should be able to give you the average for your zip code the difference between bel air and abingdon is like $10 per week.

She goes to the Y Journeys Abingdon, which recently moved and is probably now considered Belcamp.

A friend of mine shopped around to the local Goddard and at least one other place, but felt that the major difference in cost was in no way worth it.  The Y doesn't have shiny brand new stuff, but they're well equipped with toys, educational equipment, an awesome playground, knowledgeable and caring staff - I'm completely confident in their abilities and love for my child.  She's in the 3-year old classroom and they have a schedule, lessons, play time, nap time, etc.  Mia absolutely adores going there and she's already learned a great deal from them.  Trying to teach her to write a lower case R the other night gave me a whole new respect for her teachers who have taught her so much already.  I couldn't do it.

  • E is in an inhome in Baltimore City and we pay $175 a week.  It will go down to $150 in March when she turns 2.

Ditto this. I'm in Baltimore County.  We haven't really taken advantage of the meals much yet, but will when he turns 1 - meals and milk.  I found a few people that were between 150 and 175, but I didn't like them as much as this provider.
