I was just channel surfing while my DD naps and I guess there is now a reality show about X games guys or BMXers and their significant others, like Football or Basketball Wives.
Anyways one of the women has a infant and while staying at a vegas hotel the DD falls off the bed and cuts her forehead. The woman is crying that she didn't do her job because she let it happen and she can't take worrying about her guy getting hurt in a race or competition AND worry about her DD getting hurt. So she is going on and on crying and the paramedic asks her while her and the baby are going to the ambulance, "Is your daughter up to date with her shots?" "Um, I don't vaccinate her."
WTH, after going on and on about worrying about your baby getting hurt, you don't vaccinate her???
BTW I don't have any insight on the reasons people don't vaccinate so I'm definitely not trying to be on one side or another or start a discussion. It just came off surprising to me.
I know everyone has their beliefs but it sort of sounded weird when she said it.
Re: The X Life on VH1-No Vaccines for baby??
Can we talk about a gay couple not vaccinating? How about they are on welfare too so we can hit all the topics at once?
No, no, no. I'm definitely not trying to start anything like the "gays can't have kids" posts. I don't know anyone who doesn't vaccinate and it just came off weird to hear someone say it.
I don't know what IMO means but No I'm not implying anything. I don't know anyone who doesn't vaccinate their children and to me it sounded weird as someone who does vaccinate my DD. And of course I understand she does care about her DD.
This board is so all over the place with this topic. Sometimes people say "OMG VACCINATE YOUR KID, GEEZ" and sometimes people go off on the "it's your choice, vaccinations aren't needed" rant.
That being said, my best friend works as an epidemiologist and b*tches about people not vaccinating all the time. There was never a thought in my mind about not doing this for my daughter.
Eh, kinda. I've seen the clip she's referring to, and the mom was practically hyperventilating and the baby only had a small cut on the eyebrow that required some glue or a couple stitches. She was crying how she failed as a mother, and kinda flipped the f out.
I took the no-vaccines as a sign that she is super-protective of her daughter and doesn't want to expose her to things in the vaccines, which doesn't contradict her behavior in response to the accident.
I certainly hope none of us were implying we don't vaccinate.
This goes to the OP as much as to you. I vaccinate. I just wasn't up for any debate on the issue, period.
I was just being glib. That's ok, most people don't get my humor.
Nah, I didn't get that from you, I just think it is odd how different posts on the same topic get such different responses. I notice it the most on vaccination posts.
Then there was that whole hookah issue. One girl got flamed to high hell ("are you f*cking serious!?!?!") then another girl asked the same question and everyone said something like, "ooh I wouldn't. Use your judgement. Ask the doctor."
I thought you weren't up to this discussion? I don't think anyone was responding to you.
Wow. Testy.
I thought I was being nice..
It depends on the poster, of course.
Shuddup... I must've missed the hookah issue! That's funny.
Thank you for laughing at me, tessa.
Lol, I really meant I didn't think anyone responded to her. As in you or I.
See. Here comes my clique. Now you've really done it.
Yes, my response was necessary when someone responses to me. I meant what I said, I don't think I or the other bumpie were responding to her post. We were responding to the topic in general.
Don't worry, it's fine.
Sometimes people just throw their opinions (and stupid jokes) out there. That's what makes it a forum. Eesh. I know to tread lightly from now on.
Man Daisy, you best get yo mind right.
Be still my heart.
Skinny quotes.
And with that, I really AM off to bed. Gah.
