Freezer Stash

For those of you that have gone back to work and BF, how many oz did you have stored up in your freezer stash before going back????

Thanks!!!!

Re: Freezer Stash

  • I go back next Monday. I have ab 285 oz. My goal was 200 oz (no reason for that number, just sounded good).

I went back part time when DS was 7 weeks old and had about 200oz. I went back full time when DS was 11 weeks old and was up to 300oz. For quite a while I was able to stash 25oz or more per week.

I've been back to work full time for 3 weeks now and still haven't had to dip into my stash, and I'm still able to keep adding to my stash but at a much slower pace of only about 10oz per week.

  • I had about 80 oz frozen before i went back to work (2 months ago). Now I am at about 65 oz and have stayed right around that number for the last month. There is maybe one day a week that I don't pump enough for the next day and I usually just add another pumping session in before bed to get an extra oz or two and then supplement with frozen. And I am usually able to freeze about 4 oz 'extra' a week. The reason for the 15 oz drop was bringing extra bottles with us places 'just in case'.

  • I've been back at work now for about a month. I started with about 200 oz and now am maintaining about 60 oz. for backup.

  • I don't remember the exact amount, but I suspect it was around 500 oz.  I am now freezing what I pump during the day and using the frozen for bottles at daycare.  DS gets 3 frozen milk bottles and 3 fresh milk bottles (I EP).  This is the only way I would use my freezer stash without the milk going bad!  I need to recount my oz, but I suspect I'm still adding to my freezer stash more than I'm using.
  • I go back in a week and a half and I have about 350oz now - I wasnt trying to have a huge freezer stash but for the first 6 weeks or so Iwas pumping after or during every feeding.  I only pump 2x a day now, after his first feeding and just before bed and get about 10-15 oz total - I am terrified of hurting my supply when I go back to work (every other day my schedule doesnt relly allow for ample pumping time - I am hoping I can find a way to make it work)

  • I only had about 60 oz in freezer when I went back to work.   I have about 30 oz now.    I pump enough milk during my work day for the next.   I also am supplementing 4 oz formula a few days/week,   I should be work on getting my freezer stash back up but I hate to pump.   Once I have enough milk for the next day I am done.   I don't even like to pump on the weekends when I am home.

  • I had about 180 when I went back about 5 weeks ago. I've only had to dip into it a bit, so I'd suspect I have about 150 oz. But my supply is crashing a bit (due to my job and having a hard time fitting in pumping somedays) and need to pump after DD goes to bed just to make up what I'm short. Once in a while I don't have enough and need to dip into it again

  • Well over 1000. Embarrassed I've donated several hundred, too. My boobs took really well to the pump, I guess. I've completely stopped pumping while I'm at home, but the two sessions per 8hr work day still gets about 10oz more than DS needs. If you know of any families in WI who need some BM, PM me.
  • Had about 300ozs when I went back to work 2 days a week.  Now we're up to at least 650+ozs.  I almost always pump what they eat.  I'm donating 300ozs this weekend to a local mom...I need my freezer back!  I only pump when I'm gone for a feeding and also at night before I go to bed.
