Trouble TTC

Nervous, But thank goodness

Nervous due to the fact I have to do my first injection of the Menopur tonight. You know I teach my diabetes patients how to take their insulin however I have never injected myself. What a sissy! 7pm tonight...EEK!

I went to pick up the medication which is not covered by insurance and for the 2 vials of Menpur it was $302. That's just for Wed and Thur.. HOLY COW! The HCG vial was $62 which they signed me up for some discount program and it brought that down to $47. I was just about to pay for the Menopur and the pharmacist walked up and said they had another discount program for that too. Took my total from $302 to $144! I cried, yep right there at the counter...I cried and told them they just made my night!

Have a lovely day ladies!

Re: Nervous, But thank goodness

  • Glad you were able to get a discount. Fertility meds are crazy expensive!

The menopur isn't too bad, it does burn a little bit but it's not horrible. I ice the area before all my injections. I didn't for the first few days and it makes a huge difference (or maybe I'm just a wuss?!)  Good luck!

P.S. your siggy makes me giggle. I love it:)

  • Woo!  I'm glad they were able to get you the discount.  I am OOP so I definitely price shop before ordering meds.  For Menopur, I found The Apothecary Shop to have great prices.  They are part of the Heart Program (this may be what Walgreen's Specialty Pharmacy calls it, they also have pretty good prices, free supplies and free overnight shipping) which means for a $10 per year fee, you get Menopur for $68/69 per vial with free injections supplies and overnight shipping (since we have one locally, I actually get the meds sent to my house by courier for no extra charge).

    Good luck, hon!
